Charging the LG G3 = Long and Painful!

Just got my G3 unit last weekend. out of the box it has 50% charge left. Charged it with the cable and adapter bundle to it. in less than 30mins my unit was fully charged 100%

No activity was done on my phone during charging

This is normal charging time!

The OP certainly has something wrong with his. My G3 charges stupid fast, stupid stupid fast. I plugged mine in last night (wall charger that came with the phone) at 20% and it was at 100% in less then 60 mins.

I see a lot of people in this thread saying it takes forever to charge their phones.
This is because the phone overheats and is stuck at 2.5ghz causing the battery to drain faster than it charges.
The best way to charge the phone is to turn it off completely.
The stock charger is 2A not 1.8A
Most of the time my phone charges rather quickly but last night I charged it over night and it was at 99% at morning.

This is not good and tells me something was hogging the cpu and battery while charging.
I swear to god LG better release a fix for this or I will put this phone on blast everywhere.
This is getting ridiculous to have a top spec phone do so crappy.
They knew it was a problem and that's why they set it to throttle down when it heats up.
Throttling down just makes it lag and perform really bad.

I've never had my G3 come close to overheating, especially while charging. I haven't even felt my phone get warm while it's charging.

This phone has fast charging built in and comes with a specially built charger in order to do it. LG has included this feature on their flagships since the Optimus G Pro. Since that was a while ago they don't advertise it as much anymore. If you're having problems its either the phone, battery, or charger. From what I've read so far sounds like the charger.

Fast charging is not something that is used throughout the charging process.

There are three stages of charging, fast, medium and trickle.

People use an app to turn on fast charge when they are using usb.

Yea I haven't tried ART yet, maybe when xposed is updated for it I will try it.
Until then though I'm using dalvik.
My phone is acting a little better but still nowhere near the way it should be.

Hi, I am using G3 for a month now and I am pretty much convinced that G3 is one adamant device. With the charger provided by the company, it charges from 0 to full in around 2 n half hours. But I sometimes use other chargers, per say, the one I had for my HTC ONE M7 and the one with Galaxy s4 and G3 doesn't like it somehow. It takes me over 6 hours for charge if I use any other charger.

So the advice is, bloody use the original charger. Other chargers, however genuine be, fail to pump the power.
No idea why is it so.

Fwiw I've found that some cables also restrict charging speeds whe paired with AC adapters 1.8-2.1a that charge fast with other cables. So far Amazon basics 6ft cable and and the Smart! led cable charge slowly for me. Its a shame, as the Amazon one is a beefy cable while the Smart! One has a cool led that indicates when charged or charging.

My wife and I have a G3. We found that hers would not charge as fast when she used an USB extension cable at night. We ordered an USB 3.0 extension cable and it charges quickly now. The charger is sufficient to charge the phone.

Mine quick charges in least 90 mins or so. By using battery doctor, allow to charge more efficient.
Try battery doctor from google play store and solved some issues.
Otherwise, battery port on your phone might have defective if so.
Good luck

Hello,
New to the forum, long time lurker. I just got a G3. Great phone. I've charged it in about 1.5 hours using the stock charger. My question is kinda related.
I was just looking to get a back up charger for work. Anyone buy and aftermarket (OEM or not) they like that doesn't have a slow charge issue. I bought an aftermarket for my old Galaxy S3 and it charged super slow. So I was trying to avoid that.

I haven't had any problems.

I'm actually using my old BlackBerry charger in my office (seeing as it's the same shape and works perfectly well) and the charger supplied I've put in my bedroom, and I haven't noticed any differences between the two.
