NiN, if you want it to be unique, I'd look into setting up a room or corner of a room as a well-lit, well-decorated (modern, minimalistic, or otherwise) recording area. Do it on video, not audio. It holds interest much better. See if you can get someone to sponsor you for a nice camera and microphone to do the recording with. Consider familiarizing yourself with software like Adobe After Effects for editing. Use modern and up-and-coming technologies like Google+ hangouts for interviews as much as possible, and record them.
I've done most of the stuff above on a college-level budget for my (expensive) astrophotography and timelapse hobby. It sounds daunting, but if you take it step-by-step it's very simple. I'd be willing to help hook you up with all of the above, including the best recommendations for camera and microphone, but it'll have to wait seeing as I don't have nearly enough time for
anything right now.
