Check out these oval icons I found today for the Honor 8

I never had any issues with emui like some people. Greatly improved on Emui 5.0. is there a black theme on Emui theme store
It comes down to personal preference. Some prefer emui 4 which had more changes over regular Android

I'm personally a much bigger fan of EMUI 4.1 than what we have now. 4.1 was even further away or different than Android is which appealed to me more so I liked it a lot. In fact if I could go back to 4.1 without any trouble I would but what we have now is just fine too. It's still EMUI overall.

Yeah I just read over it and it requires a flash and I am not really versed in all that part of mobile devices. I'll just stick with the latest updates. I appreciate you giving me the heads up though.

Does that require I root the phone or hook it up to my computer? If so that would be too much trouble. If not I'll definitely have a look into it. Can I upgrade back up at any time too?
I don't believe that it requires a pc. You can upgrade if so desired

It is a little involved but honor gives you step by step instructions. If you don't feel comfortable then your friend who flashed your old phone could do it for you

Only thing emui 4 is missing is app drawer. If it had one, it'll be just as good as emui 5

Oh man that's my favorite part, no app drawer. If you would have remembered me from way back on the honor 8 you would know I'm like a new of stock EMUIs biggest fans. Even today now that they give you an option for a app drawer I still don't use one. I'm a die hard EMUI fan. I always have been from the very first day I ever used it. Not once in my three times owning this phone have I ever even thought about putting Nova on my honor 8 phones. It's always been straight up stock for me but however I do use Nova on my Android devices. EMUI isn't Android to me. In fact it's nothing remotely like Android other than they had nowhere else to place it at bc Apple would never had let them in their eco system so they had no choice but default to Android. You'd be in shock if you knew how many article type posts I've made about how EMUI could have easily had been branded has the mobile industrys third major software choice offered to consumers. That's just how totally different they are compared to stock Android. EMUI is actually more like IOS compared to Android but Apple would have never ever allowed EMUI in on their software system. Android was EMUIs only choice as to where to be placed. Android is all about customization so even though EMUI is nothing like Android we see it today in Androids eco system. I've heard so many say it's too much like IOS and I disagree. It's a hybrid type software with a little bit of both flavors and then they add their own twist in it too. That's why you won't ever find anything remotely like it. I know if I had my choice between Android, IOS and EMUI that I'd pick EMUI all day long and that's a true testimate to just how extremely different it over the two others. I absolutely love it. I'm a die hard EMUI fan. It's a blast to use every day and I never get tired of it. So if you use Nova I would highly recommend giving the stock no app drawer a try out for a couple weeks and see if you'll ever go back. It's an awesome software experience

I am actually using my honor 8 without the app drawer for a emui experience. It's certainly different

Are you? What do you think? I just don't even think anything of it as I'm so used to it now which is the only way I've ever used EMUI. Soon you won't even notice anymore and prefer it I think.

Well I used my iPhone 7 Plus as my daily driver so the honor 8 without app drawer isn't far from it

Same here. I used Apple for a long time exclusively until I tried Android. Once I tried the honor 8 I loved it. So the no app drawer is normal to me and I prefer it that way. Even though now they give you an option to use an app drawer. I liked 4.1 better than I like what it's on now. So I'm thinking of downgrading if I can figure out how to do it with ease.

Well there's always a risk whenever putting new software... Although there is an official process so the risk is pretty small.
