Checking for updates! Service unavailable

I had this problem with the previous update. The solution was to go to the Verizon store and get a new SIM card. I had tried all other methods to no avail.

I'm currently using the Verizon S3, and whenever I manually check for updates via Settings-> About device-> software update-> check new I get a return error "service unavailable: check for system updates under settings > about device when service is available."

I've tried limiting the phone to CDMA (a fix that previously worked for the HTC thunderbolt), which didn't work.
I've tried waiting it out (for a week now) and nothing has popped up.

I've checked under device settings to make sure that I am connected to the network and its working and everything, the updater just doesn't work.

A new SIM card was the only thing that worked for me to fix the problem you described.

I was getting this error last week, I inserted my sons sim card and restarted my phone. Turned my phone back off and reinserted my sim card and it started working again.

I tried *#*#682#*#* n the number will disappear before u can dial it. I did that twice n then I did the disable enable n force to stop the Google Service frameworks n it worked. But I am still at 4.2.1 is that the latest software update ?

4.3 is the most current version.

I have come across this same issue with a galaxy s5 from Verizon. Update service unavailable.

What I did was change the date and time and unchecked auto date and time. I made sure I was in the right time zone manually.

The update worked immediately afterwards.

Thanks I've had this problem on myour note 5 out of the blue and changing the date fixed it.

I had the same issue and It was a nightmare, i stopped automatic date and time also unchecked time zone , i works just fine .

Hi everyone,,
above solution works for awhile only. However , i did better way then the issue was completely gone! I removed the account and added it again and it works fine just fine.please if anyone try what i did and worked fine let us share the experience.. (-:
