@Alextro, old videos recorded with 2.1 are choppy, record new videos on 2.2 with flikr adjusted to 60, it works, I have tested it. Now I am working on the battery life, which is worse than 2.1.

Can you go a little bit into detail as to what this setting does. When recording whats the difference between 50 / 60 hz? Or is this less of a recording option and more of a playback option?

Thanks

So the 60Hz thing is a recording option, not a playback option. Others are reporting than when the video are taken off the phone, they play smoothly on a PC or in YouTube. I tried adjusting this setting and it does not resolve my choppy playback problem. Playing the file a second time makes it a little better, but it is still crap! This really needs to get fixed. There is no excuse for a flagship product to have this kind of major bug! Takes me back to my Palm PRE days... NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!

exactly.....the play back fine on the computer...but not on the phone its self. whats up with that

Not sure if this will help, but I uninstalled LED Light from the Market after reading others having camera issues with it. Quick sample, just two videos, but didn't have the choppy playback as I did with recent recordings. Reinstalled, and slight choppiness returned. Not sure how many have LED Light installed, especially after Froyo's flashlight app, but worth giving it a try for those who do. Unfortunately, older videos are still very choppy over phone playback. Also, that was with flicker adjustment on auto.

I have the led widget ill unistall that and try it out and post back...hopefully thats a fix....since im not even using the 720 p option because it playsback choppy

Nope didnt do a thing for me playbacks choppy...i set my camera back to h.264 800x.480...htc please fix this..:/

Does anyone know if it's due to the class 2 8gb memory card we have? since it records at 2mbps and the HD video is just under 4mbps?

Maybe if we upgrade to class 4 cards, the 720p playback will be much smoother ?

The issue has nothing to do with the SD card. It's 100% software related and probably something stupid that they overlooked. 720P videos worked perfectly fine before the update.

^ this....also im using a 16 gig class 2 and it gave me no problems in 2.1

I found a fix!!!! Lol this might sound obivous but a hard reset fixed the problem for me....my browser was fing up and i couldnt click links and force closeing...so i did a hard reset...and presto i took a 720 p vid and it played back flawlessly...i took 4 vids and tested it...ill also test vids tmr...im sure htc still needs to update this...but try a hard reset if this is important to you..it was to me..im very glad i did the reset!

Not only do 720p videos play choppy on my Evo since Froyo, but my video camera has been completely killed by the update. Ever since the update, anytime I push the record button, nothing happens. If I press the record button or any button on the video camera screen for that matter, I can't back out of the camera and have to press home to get out. Once back home, everything runs extremely laggy and I have to power cycle the phone to make it usable again. Also, I've already tried two factory resets. No help.

I've done two hard resets and it's still choppy :(

I have also done a hard reset and still have the choppy video playback. I just record in WVGA mode now and have no problems with playback in this mode. Sucks, but what can we do until HTC fixes this crap!

Video playback, Google Calendar editing, what else?

I wonder when an update to fix the froyo bugs will be pushed out?

***FIX***
Hey all. Here's the simple fix for this...but it will cost you. And, I don't know why; I just know it "didn't in 2.1 but does in 2.2".

It is your microSD cards speed, or "class". The EVO comes with a 8gb Class 2 card. This seems to come up short in 2.2 for some reason. You will have to spring for a new card. Get at least a Class 6. I've personally "fixed" six EVOs and it works every time. Simply get your preferred card size (8gb, 16gb, etc) in a Class 6 or better speed rating and the video will record and playback smooth as butter. The "class" rating is clearly marked on the packages of cards. Look for it. The "class" rating is simply the card's ability to move (read/write) data. The chop you're experiencing is the card read/write delay. A class 2 card is a little shy of the data rate the Evo moves 720p video data. I would recommend before you install the new card to: Plug the phone into your PC, mount the SD card as a drive, & copy the entire card to a folder on your desktop. Then swap the new card in. The immediately copy/paste the entire contents of the folder on your PC right back onto the new blank card. You may need to format the card first. Reboot the Evo, and you will be set. NOTE: This fix is absolute and will end your video chop issues! (I'm sick of seeing so many posts and replys on this with folks stumbling in the dark. Spend the $25 and just get it fixed!) P.S. Try it, because if it doesn't work, just format the new card, put your old one back in, and return the new card. See...what can you lose, except your video chop...
