Hello,

I'd like to make my browser continue loading homepages, even when I'm not starring at the respective tab. Hardware-wise this should be entirely possible with a Quad-Core CPU.

Right now, there is no root or custom ROM on my device which I'm willing to change in favor of the above improvement.

Thanks.

edit: 4.4.2 OS installed

Welcome to the forums.
I don't quite understand. Do you want it to refresh constantly, or do you want to open up multiple pages and have them all load?

Depending on how you do it, Android can handle several pages at the same time. Say you are on a website, and want to open up several links (I am guessing this example is what you have in mind?) You can long press the link and select open in new tab. And open as many links as you want.

I'm aware of the ways to open several links. I would like chrome to load the content behind the links, however, even when I'm not having the tab activated.
Right now, it only loads the one active tab.

Sorry, I meant to point out that when you have several tabs open, android does load them all.

I'm sorry, too. Because you are absolutely correct... It doesn't seem to work, however, when my mobile internet connection (UMTS capped at 32 kbps due to data restriction from my mobile service provider). That's why I wanted to open a tab, start loading a page on slow speed, so something else in between and then return to the tab eventually in the hope that it has loaded. I can't get this to work, unfortunately.

Due to the low data restriction, I am not sure if anything you do could act as a workaround.

The provider of the service is completely in charge of data sent and when in the data restriction mode. I doubt they will entertain requests like that. I guess you could complain to them and see what they do, but you may not like that any better. Good luck with your endeavor though. This is what my data provider told me when I complained to them.

I feel like we are still not understanding each other...
I know that I can't expect more bandwidth from my provider. He does provide UP TO 32kbps when my volume is used up, however. This is obviously very slow. I just want my browser to continue loading a requested homepage, while I can do some offline stuff with my phone, like reading a book, or pdf on the SD card or whatever. I have the feeling, though, that the browser does not continue loading, when it is minimized.

Do you now get what I mean?

Yes I do. Yes it should work. Clicking home should still allow the loading of the webpage.

Have you looked at the Chrome "Settings" "Bandwidth Management" "Preload Webpages" The choices "Never""Only on Wifi""Always" Could yours have "Never" selected? If this is your service provided for the device and you have "Only on Wifi" selected they may not load for you. Just reaching here. I have mine on "Always". I can see if you were on a 2 gb account you would want "Only on Wifi" I never use Wifi.
