Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?

Whoops, wrong forum! Well, at least you know it's hardware and not Chrome. Although specs on nexus 7 look as good or better than GS3. Strange.

No lag at all. Tried both mobile and desktop versions and it was smooth sailing. I see a lot of posts around about S3 lag and it's related to user setup 99% of the time. Meaning phone settings along with what's installed and running in background.

Oh stop it. Chrome is a piece of crap out of the box. This has little to nothing to do with it.

Please enlighten me as to what magical setting I've changed that has made chrome unusable since day one.

Good morning!
I'm running it on a dual core phone with ICS and it doesn't lag much, and not at all on the previously mentioned news site. Maybe your tablet is tired of being talked down to. :) Google voice has gotten that good. I have a lot of rendering issues though so it's not all rainbows over here either. Good luck!

I haven't even tried another browser yet because chrome its so much faster than anything I had tried on the kindle fire. Maybe I should test a few others to see if there is any more speed I can squeeze out of this bad boy.

This is my point. I can only imagine that people that think Chrome is actually fluid and responsive have clearly not used an actual competent browser on a tablet and that is sad.

Fyi chrome on the 2012 macbook air has caused issues too

Those were related to Chrome's implementation flash causing issues with the new HD 4000 graphics in the macbook air. It is totally unrelated chrome's awfulness on android.

Works fine for me except the occasional double tabs that keep popping up. Which is annoying. Plus how do you save pictures?

Ughh, Don't ever subject anyone to that joke of a website...

That being said. The Verge is virtually unusable in chrome. So much so that I had to just stop visiting it while using my nexus.

I agree bgr is a joke i just used it as an example. The verge is also difficult to navigate through. Thank god for Dolphin HD.

I totally agree. I noticed how horrendous Chrome was right out of the box when I visited Android central. At first I thought it was my internet connection then I thought it was my device that was defective. Now i realize that virtually one is going through the same experience.

I'm at a loss as to why Google would put out such an unfinished product since browsing the web is one of the major things you do on your tablet and mobile device. The regular AOSP browser runs circles around Chrome on ICS and I'm sure on Jellybean.

I'm beginning to have doubt when someone says they have no lag on Chrome. We see this on virtually every device and platform, those who are blind supporters either are in denial a problem exist or just don't want to knowingly admit it.

I still love my nexus 7 it does everything else great! BUT either way you look at it Google struck out with Chrome on the Nexus 7.

Maybe chrome has lost its touch?

I was also not overly impressed with chrome at first. In particular with the widget that does not update the screen preview immediately like browser would.

That being said, I have noticed chrome does a good job at resizing text on sites. Also tends to have better resolution on some sites than browser.

I loaded the GB Olympic website and BGR like posters on here requested. And chrome did an excellent job with both.

PS. I'm running chrome on galaxy nexus not nexus 7.

Were talking about Chrome the Nexus 7 so any claim you have that you have no issues with Chrome is not valid on this thread. Why would you even post that information here?

Well the thread title doesn't really say anything about chrome specifically for the nexus 7, so I can understand why he posted about chrome on his galaxy nexus. He was probably using the AC forum app also, so he most likely saw this thread in the recent section, not seeing that it was posted in the nexus 7 forums.

I'm currently using the stock JB browser. Seems to work better than the Chrome browser

Firefox is very quick, supports Flash, and syncs my bookmarks with my desktop seamlessly. I think I've run Chrome once on my Nexus.

I don't have lag..it loads this website and some others slowly but that's not lag. Once the page is loaded, I can scroll from top to bottom as fast as i can swipe. For those with lag do you have GPU acceleration turned on?

I'm guessing my 35 down and 35 up and low ping times also have a lot to do with chrome use.

Correct. I don't understand why other's experience with chrome and android is upsetting to some. It should be a clue that maybe it's an issue with how folks are managing system resources, or that the specific UI on the nexus 7 is dragging down the browser performance. My phone was built by Samsung but all the software is Google, EXCEPT the Touchwiz launcher and UI. Additional info is a good thing.

Yeah I also timed this site's load time at five seconds in chrome. Puffin browser, which I'd heard is fast, took seven seconds. Opera, which is known for its speed took 11 .

Yeah Google removed the true "stock" aosp browser in favor of Chrome.. which I also hate. I believe there's a zip floating around xda I heard of the stock browser that can be flashed. I also have the apk someone can sideload if they want. I'll post it if there's any interest... I can't guarantee it will work perfectly as sideloading it won't let it run as a system app (which it might not need anyway) but also you might not be able to sync your bookmarks on it. Won't cause any harm though, if it doesn't work just uninstall it.

EDIT: Here it is.. report back with results :)

I couldnt get it to open.
