Chrome vs Samsung Browser

Chrome is absolutely trash on mobile, Pop-up ads like crazy. Samsung's browser is the best mobile browser by far with Ad blocking at it finest.

I like the Samsung Browser but like others states all the data synced between all my devices in chrome is what keeps me on chrome. I can only sync bookmarks between Chrome and SB but that's about it. Plus I also use multiple platforms so Chrome is a no brainer.

Well when I saw the thread title I had to stop in and see what people were saying. I've kind of been struggling with the switch to everything Sammy. When I was using HTC I opted for everything Google. I mean it all works together, it all connects, you have basically one interface that is the same for everything... So when I got my S10+ I keep seeing all of these options for defaulting different actions and I haven't made a choice for any of them because I just wasn't sure about the other options and I wasn't sure if Google was still the best way to go. After reading all of the overwhelmingly positive things about Sammy I will at least give them a try. I think I accidentally opened something in the Samsung browser once and that's been the only time I've used it. I'm not big on favorites or bookmarks crossing over but the passwords for me is the must. If I can get those maybe I'll be a full convert.

Multi-platform +1 to Google.
I have now tried both browsers on verius phones. Loading is about the same, but when it comes to scrolling Google wins again. Only one I seen just as fast is Edge.

I've been using Chrome on all my phones for years. I started playing with the Samsung browser and it seems nice. Has anyone really compared the two and have opinions on pros and cons?

Have never really used Chrome ever as it has always been labelled as a resource hog. Think it's much better now but found my callings long ago with Samsung browser on mobile and FireFox on PC, no reason to change at this point that I can see.

Pros of Samsung's browser (personal opinion)...
* Fast
* Clean
* Quick access to favourites
* Decent feature set
* Syncs well with FireFox on PC

Side note - I'm not a browsing fanatic on our mobile devices yet like to get where we want to go quickly when need be w/o too much effort, Sammy's browser does just that.

That's weird. On every phone I have ever tried Chrome on, it was very choppy while scrolling.

But on the Samsung Browser it is as smooth as silk.

What phones have you been using?
Last I tried both browsers on S9, S10 and Pixel 2. None of the browsers worked choppy on any of the phones.

Pixel 2 XL, 3 XL and now on my S10+.

I guess what I mean by choppy is when you are scrolling a page it just seems to stop for a half second before continuing on periodically.

Also, I appear to not be the only one in this thread saying it.

Maybe you just aren't as observant as others. :)

SAMSUNG.

Offers more and takes advantage of features.

I also use Safari on my iPhone for the same reasons. Before it was always Chrome.

This shows why I will not pay for Google's Pixel, not anymore after buying the first, it just doesn't offer anything.

Agreed. I suckerd myself into the Pixel twice, only to find I'm sort of naturally moving away from most Google services(I do realize it's impossible to do that completely), and without that, I'm basically spending 1,000 for a great camera.

OK I said I would and I did try the Samsung browser... It isn't the one for me. I did kind of like the looks of it seeing it for the first time but then it froze on me like every other thing I did with it. Touch a selection, type something into Google, whatever and the progress bar would show up and move about an 8th of the way across the screen and just stop. Stop. Not flash or pulsate or anything else that indicated that it was doing anything. I thought it might be my connection, so I switched WiFi connections, turned off WiFi and used Data and nothing... Opened Chrome and no issue. I may try it again at some future date but for now it isn't the one.

Funny. I get the exact opposite. I did a little screen recording earlier in day playing with Samsung Browser and then Chrome a little sitting in my car parked between errands.

Not sure if it really shows it but with Samsung I pull up a few pages and I'm flicking away back and forth and it'll scroll quickly and smoothly. What I really like compared to Chrome is that you flick back and forth and when you flick it the other direction it immediately starts flying the other direction giving you a satisfying feeling when it does it unlike my experience with Chrome.

With Chrome (not sure if you can see in my vid) you can get it to scroll rapidly in one direction with a flick but when you flick the other way, it does this janky stop before going the other way which I find irritating. You'll notice too that a few things pop up while using the Chrome brower. I don't know what was happening except when changing direction, during that janky period when it changes direction it must be taking my input when continually flicking and activating a link or other option.

You can scroll much slowly up and down if you want and with the Samsung if you decide to change direction it will immediately scroll the other way at whatever speed you want smoothly. You scroll back and forth on Chrome, again I get this janky feel when it makes the change from one direction to the other.

I can close all apps, open each browser fresh and go through websites and the results are the same. For me the Samsung just works better as shown. (Note 8 with Pie)
