Chromecast Compatible Apps [10 apps added]

Re: Chromecast Compatible Apps [29Jul - RedBox,Vimeo Coming Soon]

You can add BubbleUPnP to that list.

It will allow to stream all media it manages, as long as it is compatible with what Chromecast supports:

- local Android media
- NAS media (UPnP / DLNA), local and remote (Internet)
- cloud media (Dropbox, Google Drive, ...).

Re: Chromecast Compatible Apps [23Jul - Play Music,Movies,Netflix,Hulu,Rdio,HBO GO]

Yeah, I think the reason they mention Chromecast in that app description is because what this app does is similar to Chromecast and they have been doing since before the Chromecast device was introduced. I sensed a hint of sarcasm or annoyance on the devs part in mentioning Chromecast in the app description.

I read it that way too but thought I was mis-reading the tone. I removed it from my list.

Start a Chromecast via the Netflix app. Let phone go to sleep. Phone never wakes up. It requires a hard shut down and reboot to fix. Seems it's happening to a lot of other people too. I'm not sure if it's completely caused by Chromecast itself, but the Netflix (and YouTube, apparently) app is currently broken on the Nexus 4. :(

It's happening to me on my Nexus 4. It's really annoying and makes Netflix to Chromecast unusable right now through my Nexus 4. Using my ipad to stream Netflix to Chromecast until this is worked out.

Any chance of adding a section for iOS apps that support the Chromecast? I know the Youtube app already does.

The Netflix app was just updated. Tested it on my Nexus 4 and no more "sleep of death". :)

You do realize that this forum is hosted on a site called "Android Central" :D

Yeah, but there would kind of be a perverse satisfaction to make iOS people come here to find out information.

Sure, but it's also the best place to find info on the Chromecast and a good number of people here use iOS devices in conjunction with their Android ones. The site isn't ChromeOS central either, but there's a section for it. Seems like AC would be more likely to compile this info compared to MacRumors....

This is amazing. I really hope that Google doesn't drag their feet on allowing devs to release this stuff. I would love to use the Chromecast to be able replace all of my other media streaming devices.

I was just wondering the same thing. I am going to a hotel this weekend and I don't want to pay for internet. I would like to be able to stream movies I have on my phone or tablet in ad hoc mode. Does anyone know if this is possible? My Chromecast is coming in the mail today and I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
