Chromecast: Error 16003 while playing Netflix

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

I was having the same exact problem. It kept giving me the 16003 error while trying to cast Netflix via my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. What worked for me was to close all running apps besides Netflix. It worked right after. Hope that helps you.

If you get the error again. Try closing all other open apps on your device. Worked for me.

I really thing it has to do with running multiple apps while casting Netflix. One I close all running apps the 16003 goes away and it casts perfectly.

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

I have an android phone and tablet, i get both error messages 16003 or 16001. The funny thing is, I do not have a problem using my computer, only my tablet and phone.
I have . You tube, etc work fine

factory reset chromecast, sometimes it will work for a short time but always reverts back to the error code.
signed in and out of netflix, uninstall and reinstall netflix
connected to chromecast in netlfix before casting
did not rename, left the name they gave it every time I did a factory reset(numerous times)
I have rebooted chromecast, my phone, and tablet and internet
closed all open apps except netflix
went to application manager for Netflix, and forced stop and cleared the cache

When I am in Application manager it says my version is 3.2.0 build is 1340, if this is incorrect could you give instructions how the change it.
I have updated everything I can think of, also tried downloading the Allcast app, not sure how they are all supposed to work together.

This all worked fine for the first week I had it. And why does it work on my laptop and not my tablet and phone, anybody have any clues for me?

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

Did anyone ever figure this out? Mine is doing it right now and I just bought it today. I have gone through everything everyone has said and nothing works. I really Dont want to take this thing back already...

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

I have since returned my original chromecast for another one and I am still getting this problem. Both Netflix and my router company, Linksys, have no idea what is going on. I guess its time to call Google?

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

the Netflix app was updated on Feb 13 2014 did the update help in anyway with this problem?

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

Nope still doing the same thing. I have uninstalled Netflix and reinstalled. Did this on both my tablet and my Nexus 5.

I just spent some time on the phone with Google. After going through all of their troubleshooting they ended up saying that they are working on the problem, they know about it, and I just need to wait for an update.

The salesman at Best Buy told me it was definitely a router problem (I have a lynksys e2500 which I got at Best Buy...). He said most of the ones they get returned work just fine. Apparently their WiFi is supported by the Chromecast. I guess I will have to wait 'till the updates start rolling out. It's a shame because I had such high hopes for this thing...

I do have to say Google's support was extremely nice and very helpful.

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

I have a Samsung Tab 2 7 inch and for weeks was getting this error 16003. I finally got it to work today. All it ended up being was the time on my Tab 2 was off by about 10 minutes. So is set it to the time of one of my computes that sync to a time keeping server and I no longer get an error 16003 when trying to chrome cast netflix from my tablet. Apparently if the time on your device is to far off it Chrome cast can not sync correctly with nextflix. It must be how netflix works because I was still able to chrome cast from HBO 2 go and your tube just not netflix. Things I tried that did not work was log in to netflix and logging out all devices and restore factory settings on chrome cast.

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

I just wanted to say thanks Michael I have the same device and have been having the same problem -- google help desk had no idea what to do they just kept saying stand by we are working on it --- but when I saw your post I did exactly what you said and now I can play Netflix every time

Re: Error 16003 while playing netflix

This is was my problem all along. Thank you. This should be a sticky

Thanks so much. I have a Samsung Note 8 and Netflix was no longer working with Chromecast. The time was off by about 5 minutes. I corrected it and now it works great!

Thank you so much. I registered just so i could post and say thank you. My kids play with my phone and they changed the time on my phone. I fixed the time. Reinstalled netflix and it works fine now. Thanks a billion.

This solution of setting the time and clicking on auto-time worked for me as well - I had to make a new account to thank you/advise you. Restore the time to an internet time and checking auto-set works!

I spent an hour on line to Google March 31 2014, and despite service being fast and courteous, they attempted all the things you have presented (resets) but failed to get Netflix working - they did not how to fix it and asked me to wait for an update. They were aware of an issue with Netflix. They recommended I could call Netflix for a possible solution. Netflix didn't seem to know anything about and advised me it wasn't their issue and to call Google back.

Hard to believe Google doesn't know about this problem/solution and don't have a patch yet.

Thanks!!

I found a fix that worked for me. Check your time setting to make sure your device tune is as accurate as you can. Mine was off by a couple of minutes, which was enough to cause the error. Once I fixed that, I could cast with my tablet again.

The annoying part is that I can't set my tablet to automatically sync the time without rooting it, which is more than I want to deal with right now.

If you try this, post your results here so it'll help others figure this out.
