Cleaned out SD card, but deleted music still shows up

Will this clear the data (names of files etc)of the files that have NOT been deleted from my SD card? I don't want to have to re-upload everything jsut to get rid of some empty file names.

Yes, it just did this. I "cleared data' under settings>apps>media storage, and it showed my SD card still had space taken up but none of my files showed in Google Play. Now I have to re-upload all of my files to my phone. Is there any way to remove the old empty files next time WITHOUT screwing up everything else?
