Clicking on links within downloaded PDFs

Hi there,
I am COMPLETELY new to android (as of yesterday) so this could be the dumbest question on the planet. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. I'm mostly using it to do all my uni readings/annotations. When I clicked on a PDF on my university page, it downloaded & delivered itself to the download app.

Within the PDF are links to online journal articles that I need to access. However when I have the PDF opened (I was reading it in Kindle) I can't click on any of the links/hypertexts.

So I guess my questions are:
1. How do I get my links back to being clickable!
2. If this involves opening it in a different app, which ones is best?
3. Any other tips for a literally brand new android user...or links?

Thank you so much!

One app I'd strongly recommend using for PDFs (and most other kinds of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, etc) is Google Drive.
