somehow, clockwork mod updated itself to version 5 yesterday from version 3. So, when I boot into recovery and try to restore a previous backup...nothing happens. What gives? lol

I am not sure about recoveries... I am running version 4 I think?
Didn't know they could spontaneously update...

i dont know if i did something or not. lol. is there a way to revert back to a previous version?

If your phone is still rooted get bobzhome recovery and flash gui.
Boot up your phone and install flash gui and use it to flash bobzhome to your phone. That should work and you should be running CWM 4.0.1.5 or something like that.

Rom Manager doesn't support our phones properly. If you have a version 5 recovery it's for wrong phone as the current version for the ov is 3.something. Rom manager probably loaded the optimus c recovery to your phone

As long as your rom still works I'd remove rom manager and then see the stickies on how to flash the correct recovery from your rom.

*Edit - go to this thread http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...-how-simplified-root-recovery-custom-rom.html and see section titles Install custom recovery image

Don't try to do anything in recovery until you get the correct recovery loaded because if you mess up your rom while you have a messed up recovery it will be difficult to get your phone going again. You always want 1 of your systems working... either rom or recovery as you can fix one from the other but can't fix either if they are both broke

Actually I have a question... were you prompted with a beta release for something that said beta version 5 and had a changelog along with either download or cancel?
