Slacker is a great value for the price. I subscribe to Sirius and find myself mostly listening to the music and not the other content. With Slacker radio a quarter the price I am planning on letting my sirius subscription expire and picking up Slacker.
1. Their sound quality is way better than Pandora.
2. I love their selection of Punk Rock and Techno/Trance
3. The UI is clean and easy to use in the car
4. RAD NAME
5. It keeps me happily away from the radio which is 75% commercials and 25% music these days. MEH.
A long-time user of Pandora, I decided to try something else, and honestly, the way the genre-based stations are set up are so much nicer and helpful... and I've come across some better music selections via Slacker than I have with Pandora. Not sure if it's the licenseing, or just who it is doing the music selections, but Slacker's ended up being more eclectic, and as a result, varied and eye-opening. It's good stuff, highly recommended whenever I can.
I have tried Slacker, Pandora, last.fm and Jango. Slacker is the best of all because it feels more like an fm radio and it plays more relevant songs. sometimes I used to get frustrated of Pandora because it would play something totally irrelevant. And, I also liked the idea of caching of Slacker radio. I also like the live RJ feature.
