CM7 Nightly Builds

What about call volume on the receiving end? Please only reply if you have had issues in the past. Some people never had issues so that would not be a good test.

I had issues on older CM7 builds, as well as on MIUI (All flavors) This Build 54 seems to have taken care of the volume issue, on both ends (at least..for me) and I noticed that GPS locks on pretty quick!
So far, it's pretty much perfected! I'm still tinkering with everything..only caveat I've come across if the Brower keeps FCin on me. I had to install Opera Mini to just have a browser, so I'm not 'hurting'.
I did notice that when you enable USB Storage, it 'flips' back to the home screen, and it connects, but unless you drag down the status bar to see it, you won't know it until you see the extra drive letter in the PC.

Latest nightly #54 running fine. DO NOT install a custom kernel with it, none compatible at this time. The kernel that comes with it can be overclocked and undervolted, and looks like the BLN has been fixed as well.

Dow this mean No to Glitch right now?

Unless you want to OC it to 1700, I won't bother, personally. As I said, the volume issue 'seems' to be ok now.
And I'm running the kernel that came with it, and it's running great! I have all the Glitch's, ready to go, but, hey..its not broken..so why risk it? :)

True. I have noticed that 'feature' as well with this 'stock' kernel of 54.
One issue, that almost everyone on every forum has said, is that 'phantom' chirp/trill ring just before a ringtone is played. I noticed it even if Ihave the phone muted, it will still chirp the ring.
This can be annoying to the boss if in a meeting..or theater..you name it.
I had my phone Charging with Battery Config running, I had the App mute when fully charged..and I got a call..heard the chirp, then heard the tone notificaiton of it being charged and the indicator to 'ring when changed' as being active.

Other than those 'problems' which really isn't affecting the fuctionality, are the only beefs I have.

Everything seems to be working great with 56. MMS good, volumes good, can oc to 1300 with the stock updated kernel from jt. Darn close to an RC from my perspective.

Any major changes from 54 that would warrent the 'update' to 56?

Like, is the FC of the browser fixed? And the Chirp before the ring also resolved? If so, I'm-a-flashing!

Well, being the 'flash-junkie' I couldn't resist..and took the 56 plunge.
The FC of Browser is still there, and my SVOX classic voices had to be uninstalled/reinstalled.
I restored everything with Titanium without issues before..so this is a head-scratcher, but not a deal breaker.
I did see 57 is out there..and I'm trying to be strong and not 'get a fix' again...:p

Ok..new 'feature' of 56..when my phone is off 'Idle' and got an email..the soft-buttons lit up. Good.
But, when I hit the power button to unlock, the phone rebooted.
Came back up fine BUT the lights stayed on..even after I cleared the 'new email' gig.
I had to do a complete reboot to get them to shut off.

Try tapping the soft keys or the screen instead of the power button. That may bring the phone out of sleep instead of the power button. I know with BLN that was the case.

:'(Thanks for the tip. That was the first thing I tried....no luck.
But, I ended up going to a SC ROM instead since the GPS would lock quick, but kept losing it.

I'll come back to the CM7 'side' when a RC is ready...:-\ :'(

I decided to come back to CM7 and I am now on 57. now the people on the other end can hear me but it echos back to them and they want me to call them from a land line.

Android Ver: 2.3.5
Baseband: EC09
CM7: 57

Any help would be appreciated.

Move on to 64 and ED05. Each update has made the phone better (imho)

im going to try going back to ED05. Was on it before trying CM7 and I switched back to EC09 because I read that EC09 was recommended for CM7.

I really like CM7 overall. My main beefs have been:

  • frequent dropping of data connection, which always seems to be fixed by turning Airplane mode off then on again. this seems to have gotten better in the latest builds.
  • GPS: has been spotty and slow to lock in at best. Even when locked in, the location accuracy is off

I have yet to have the volume issue a lot of folks are having. I should mention that I've stuck with the default kernel for each nightly; haven't been compelled to try Glitch or anything else because I'm not interested a whole lot in over or under volting. HOWEVER, I would dig a functional GPS. A lot.

Anybody experience anything similar?

:p

UPDATE 9/30: had a spontaneous boot looping episode on #64. after a battery pull, it returned to normal. i then flashed #65 and BAM - continuous boot loop from hell. after a few battery pulls, it stopped looping and just remained stuck in mid boot - with the blue CM7 arrow going around and around (and around and around and...you get the idea).

Sooooo, i figured it was a good time to start over and put a fresh DL09 build on it. I'll let you know when I get back to GB.

Nice to see you Ytaay. Been a little while since I've been around consistently (aka living here), so it's nice to see some familiar faces around here. If you are going to make your way back up to GB, you may want to have a look at Pool Party. Sbrissen took JT's Vanilla Gingerbread and added TSM parts plus some new Sbriss mods he has come up with. He ported over the CM rings lockscreen to it. If you haven't seen this lockscreen yet check it out below, it's amazing. Pool Party can be found here:

Hey sharky... out of curiosity, which kernel are you using?

Sharky, good to see you, too! Thanks for that suggestion; that's all I need to check it out. I was just thinking about a different GB to try other than CM7.

To be honest, it can probably be overwhelming for some folks with all the ROM/radio/kernel options out there now for the FASN8.

I really like TSM on Froyo and CM7 a lot too - until it bricked :) - but no big deal; that's the price of flashin' and it's well worth it.

As gunnermike is fond of saying, if you haven't bricked your phone yet, you're doing something wrong (or something like that).

Can't wait to check it out! Now to research the best way to get there.

:p
