CM8 Idea

With the Paranoid Port for our phones I was thinking that if we can get that ROM fully stable that I might be able to get Honeycomb fully ported on to our devices using the coding from Paranoid. I will be getting in contact with their team soon and will be asking for access to source. If I can get that then I might be able to work on the first Honeycomb based ROM for OV. Correct if I'm wrong this is why I am posting a thread about this.

It may work, but remember that there are some major differences from honeycomb and ics. Are you going to get their source and merge it?

Well, don't mean to be a hater, but:
1. WHY!?
2. Now that I've composed myself, why would you want this? Honeycomb is for Tablets. Its not like ICS where there is a phone and tablet UI, its all tablet. I saw some early sdk ports when it first came out (Google released the sources with ICS, remember? All the ports everyone did were sdk ones because there was no source to build from). They looked horrible on phones. It was crowded, buggy, and few apps worked. Honeycomb was Google's Windows Vista. I wouldn't waste my time trying if I was you, but I'm not you, so do whatever you want.
3. There never was a CM8. There never was a need for one, since ICS sources were released at the exact same time, they could just skip right to CM9.
4. What would the paranoidandroid sources do for you? Honeycomb and ICS are completely different OS's.

Thinking about that, but if you haven't noticed Jellybean is just a upgrade to Ice Cream. Basically like the sprinkles on a cone, the extra stuff that doesn't come with the vanilla. Honeycomb hasn't been ported to a phone and using Paranoid's source with a honeycomb base I might be able to get it to boot and that would at least be a start. I have yet to see anyone else come up with an idea on how to get it to run. And why not have a tablet based OS running on the OV? Think of the app possibilities that are created.

Those in the ICS thread only want the newest OS and all they do is complain.

Some us really don't care, but you posted about JB in a thread that has.nothing to do with it.

The Motorola Droid has a port for honeycomb but development is dead. Maybe you can get in touch with the dev that ported it and do what you do.

No, which is why CM8 never came out. CM8 doesn't exist, he wouldn't be able to build from source so he'd have to port from a straight up stock tablet rom. That would also be fun resizing 3000+ images so that it displays correctly....

Actually, the source was released. Aosp source that is.

The g1 had an sdk port (i was involved) its buggy and was abandoned a long time ago

If I remember correctly, when Google released ics, honeycomb changes were release because of the way git works. All the commits were there, but there weren't any tags for honeycomb. Its there, but is pretty much ignored.
