I've been assuming, and could easily be wrong, that part won't even work when using this as a simple trusted BT dongle.

In think you need to install and app for the alarm so my guess is no app no alarm.

I read about then in a thread in the Droid Maxx forum. They said, when left connected all day, Bluetooth would use 3-4% battery. They said the preformed very well as a trusted bluetooth device. I saw varying reports about battery life of the actual Cobra Tage its self though. Some people had to charge it every 2-3 days, others were getting 4-7 days between charges.

Just to put in my two cents as I have been using one for a few weeks now, I am very happy with performance. Battery drain on the phone is no worse than without (I always left bluetooth on anyway) and I charge the Cobra tag every several days. I do not need the alarm so I to turned all alarms off in the app, so no noises!
