Most of you probably heard people are saying that it is impossible, or can't be done without lag. My tests and I say otherwise!
A lot of people say you will be detected by sprint and to not use it too much or to beware.
Well I say be aware not beware anything is a possibility but I firmly believe A. They don't care, and B. They don't check/know what the data is being used by. (If you believe otherwise thats cool and you are entitled to your opinions but show me proof)
I have been tethering to my xbox & laptop for two months now and still no word from sprint nor capping of my speeds.
Another misconception is that XBL uses a lot of data. Well that all depends on what you call "a lot". After about 5 hours on XBL, I used approx. 350MB of Data.
This is usage from last two weeks

I downloaded 6 games from XBL market place and played around 20 hrs of live.

(Tl;Dr skip next paragraph.)
I for the past two months have been testing out tethering to XBL, Computer, and Tablet, for the sole purpose of gaming. Why you ask? Well the answer is quite simple. I am a hardcore gamer and had fiberoptic internet for the majority of my stay at my last house, and I have recently moved and at my new house it is impossible for me to get cable here. So I had to get a satellite isp. We chose excede through dish network. The problem is the ping is incredibly high and unstable (300-900). So I looked into alternatives and my android smartphone was the next best bet. Other uses could be for when your internet/ISP is down in your area or temporarily, you are in the car for a roadtrip, boat for trip/cruise, ect...
Although it is possible the online experience is not great, however I was able to play with friends in a party with both party chat and ingame chat on a 3G Tether (Wireless @ strict NAT)

First off what I have is.
-Sprint Galaxy S3 (Sph-L710)(Rooted)(Stock ROM)
-Sprint Unlimited Everything Family Plan
-Xbox 360 Elite 250GB with Xbox Live (Built in Wirless Adapter/Ethernet)
-App WifiTether by TrevE (WifiTether_TrevE_Mod) [App-Mod/Source] WifiTether for JB TouchWiz Roms - xda-developers

With the above I was able to achieve strict NAT on XBl and play the following with out lag.
-Red Dead Redemption
-Halo 4
-Crysis 2
-Red Faction Armageddon

(Optional) With the following I was able to achieve open NAT
-Window 7 x64 laptop with built in Ethernet & Wireless N
-Crossover Cable from Belkin
-Correct ports & settings
How to I have obtained open nat on XBL - xda-developers

Games I was able to play with no or moderate lag.
-COD Black Ops 2
-COD MW3
