The administrator for my device has the ability to record audio, record video, and take picturies at ANY time. The permisions are definately there in system apps, and Device admin app.

My Question is
Is it possible that the data being tansfered or sync could be hidden from my view on the data usage, battery usage and be files/folders im not able to see even with systrm folders on?

I mean NSA gonna NSA.. OK

But my brand new employer on a device i use in my home...jeez

I miss the 80's
Thanks in advance

It's certainly possible they could hide that stuff fromyou,... personally I'd give them the thing back and tell them you're not going to use it.

If that isnt an option, I'd turn it off and only turn it on when it's needed for work. Certainly don't use it for anything personal, and again, turnn it off when it's not needed.

I'd think the data usage (mobile, WiFi) details that you could check yourself would be relatively accurate and also account for anything the device was doing in the background (if it is doing anything specifically nefarious on commands from your work admin). So, if you keep an eye on data usage, I think you'd be able to see if it might just be doing normal behaviour or if you think you need to be more concerned about it. As a work device, I am guessing you probably had to sign some sort of agreement when you got it, including agreement that essentially the device belongs to your work and not you, and they can do whatever they want with it, and they probably also have rules about how you can use it for non work purposes.

If it makes you more comfortable, maybe only use it for work and place it away in a drawer when you don't want it out laying around at home.

If work provided it, don't consider anything done with the device to not be seen. That said - how it's configured can also determine how this happens. Android has an option for a "work profile" where they can have a second copy of apps that are protected/monitored by the company configuration, and your personal profile is separate and unmonitored.

imo, I doubt the company will access the tablet unless it is lost, stolen, not returned if you leave the company, reason to believe you are violating some company policies and more. In most cases the permissions is just so you can use the tablet for company business and to link to the company's servers as needed in order to conduct business. Not really anything to worry about.

Honestly I can't think of a good enough reason why they would waste their time keeping tabs on you, more to lose than to gain from it. That's not a jab at you lol. The restrictions and monitoring is more about security and privacy for work related things I bet. And those permissions are common in a lot of apps. Look at the permissions of apps on my phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Unless you work for the NSA, I don't see how a company supervising the devices it gives out to its workers is anything like scary boogeyman NSA monitoring. This is presumably a device you didn't have to pay for, and is intended for work. Companies have a vested interest in their own IT security and liability, so it makes perfect sense that they would need to control certain aspects of the devices they distribute to their workers.
