Just out of curiosity, why is that ? I can understand not wanting an iPhone, (I have never owned one), but to actually hate them, for over 30 years ? BTW, iPads rock.

I think he said he bought an Acer netbook instead. I don't think he was gonna buy an iPad no matter what.

While I'm not familair with the finger tremor thing, I wonder how Samsung hover feature in the Galaxy 4 handles this. doe sit compensate or is it even worse.

This, unfortunately, is a common theme in society. In politics people often vote against their best interests. In this case perhaps an ipad may have been the best device for the individual, but again makes a purchase against their best interest.

The thing that I find intriguing is how different the devices are and OP your post is not really comparing like your post's title, but dogging an OS and a company and sharing what you did purchase. The comment W8 is bad is subjective and I find the comment tired. It is like parrots, they hear something and repeat it. Also, the ipad is a great product but is best not to compare to a laptop or a PC. Different devices for different needs really. All are good in their respective ways.

Windows 8 wasn't bad I just didn't like it on desktops

I don't think anyone would be giving away an iPad 1 though. The people who still have them are people who probably wanna keep them.

I don't mind it on desktops, but I concur that it really shines with a mix of touch and key/mouse.

I have had essential tremor since I was a kid. So did my 2 boys. Yes, you can get it when you are older.
The reason I hate Apple (it may be irrational) was when Apple started selling computers. I couldn't afford them. Apple stopped retailers from discounting. Steve Jobs had a good business model and when they had a good product, they would try to get people to buy stuff in the Apple universe (Itunes, etc.)
Luckily for me other PCs became cheaper. And so I own a bunch of PCs. Tablets are good for some things, and rotten for others.

Win8 is really best only for touchscreens and stinks for regular PCs. So if you have a regular PC and want to dump the UI, download something free (google Classic Shell) or some other products for a few bucks. You can go back and forth between the Win8 UI and the Win7UI.

The reason I posted is that I am still interested in an Android tablet. If somebody gave me an Ipad, would I take it? Yep. Would I pay for it? Not now. I like to see competition and so I like Android.

BTW I am 63. Yikes! A zombie. If you were offended by my Ipaper joke, you are older than my university students.

PC's have pretty much eliminated all the advantages that Mac's used to have so now it's all about brand preferences. Apple no longer has the best tablet since the Nexus 10 came out but for those who like Apple it's still a better choic . These days there's no real advantage depending on what you want your devices to do.

Oh...so that is the reason you don't like Apple. Wait...I guess I still don't get it. But that's ok because the iPaper thing is funny. Brings to mind some rough images...but funny.
