complete walkthrough of Froyo 2.2 setup

it turns out pete's baseband did have a major bug. the loss of data connection. it makes your droid wifi only

Wow. That's unlike him to have big problems like that. Sorry to everyone who ran into this problem! So far it has worked good for me but then again each device works different I guess. So much for the name "Bugless Beast" haha

I flashed his new baseband this morning and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

ha. Went to a backup, installed baseband1 and baseband2, took 3 times to activate and was still stuck on 1x data. Rebooted into recovery and reinstalled the kernel. I now get 3G in certain parts of the house and the yard outside. Knew I shouldn't have tried to switch from .41 since I had perfect signal and consistent 3G. Gonna wipe and install another rom and see if that does anything.

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm working on a fix. or at least a solution to get back.

Hello . I was wondering if I use ROM manager and do it the quick way, Is it the same version as Droid Lifes, or MDW?

@hellboy2232 - I would recommend using Bugless Beast at this point. It is very stable and continues to be a quality rom.

cory i followed your instructions i had zero problems. 3g works great i have yet to notice anything wrong. you're the man

basebands

Ive ran the 00R the 01P and petes all in one all had wifi and 3g, 00R seemed to have more cell reception in the form of -db rating, but the 01P seems to have better 3G. You will find jumping basebands can dork over your phone, leaving changes to ANY baseband almost impossible. I had to backup, wipe, change roms then was able to change, then restore back to old rom. (baseband is seperate from roms completely)
if you loose 3G or some other function it is more likely to be from a bad download than it is from the baseband. A ton of people have done the two step upgrade 00R the n 01P with no problem. I have also gone back to 00R then back again to 01P. It just took more effort. I am currently waiting for test gear to do real in depth checking on exactly what the real differences are. More bands even better -db or speedtest.net results are not specific enough. I also noticed almost all links to petes baseband are dead.... the P3 second one's are not.

I'm a n00b to rooting and have a couple questions...

Looks like Pete has a different Baseband than what's been mentioned here: C_01.43.01P
Has anyone tried this one? Is it newer than the 00R or 01P that's being talked about here. If I choose to install (via ROM manager), will I lose my settings/apps/etc?

Sorry if these have already been asked. Thanks to you all for your time!

Moto Droid
BBv0.4 - Froyo
Baseband C_01.3E.03P
Kernal 2.6.32.9-g103d848(android-build@apa26 #1)

The only difference is that Pete's automatically installs 00R and then 01P instead of having to manually install each individually. I never could get 3G signal when using Pete's all-in-one update. Manually installed 00R and then 01P through rom manager and everything worked. You'll need to reactivate your phone so make sure you're in a verizon area but your settings and everything should stay.

OK, another dumb question...

I'm trying to find a backup app/utility that will back up all my settings as well as apps & data, so that if/when I flash new ROMs I don't have to set everything back up. Is this even possible? Is this something that Titanium Backup can do?

As always, thanks it advance!
