Confirm Group Texting on Galaxy S4

So I have a galaxy s4 and it does send group texts in the stock app(the one I use) u do have to turn it on by opening the app and clicking the menu button and ensuring group sms checkbox is checked.
i do not receive responses as a group but individualized. My sister has an s4 as well as others on this thread and they do receive group responses. My theory at the moment is that the att app for messaging which is required (I believe) for visual voicemail, may be preventing it. I only think this because I have it set up and my sister does not. I also dont get notifications for texts for the stock app but only from the att app as a result of setting up the att messages app for visual voicemail/texts (one app).

I found a solution that allows you to have visual voicemail and group sms EXACTLY LIKE IPHONES. Do not use the att messages app do not install updates or it will interfere with the stock phone messages app. uninstall the updates and disabke jf u already have. then, download the att visual voicemail app from the google play store. DOING THIS ALLOWS YOU TO DO ALL MESSAGING FROM THE STOCK S4 APP AND GROUP MESSAGE JUST LIKE AN IPHONE. THE VISUAL VOICEMAIL APP DOES JUST WHAT IT SAYS! YOULL ALSO RECIEVE NOTIFICATIONS FOR THE STOCK IPHONE APP.

I am very excited to have fixed this. Ive had nothing but iphones and this phone is hands down better than iphone 5. go get it.

Here is a group message pic showing it works. It works on both stock and I am using go sms.

For taking a screenshot you need to go into settings and make sure your motions are set to use palm swipe for screenshot. My screen protector is thicker so it's harder so I usually hold down the power and home key at the same time instead

S4 has screen capture. You just have to turn it on in settings and swipe from left to right with your hand karate chop vertical style. It's best to youtube it so you have an idea how slow to do it.

Or just hit home and power button at the same time.

Those who are having issues with text, are you old iPhone users? My friend had a similar experience because her phone number was attached to her apple account so when other iphones sent her replies, it would go through imessage.

Yes, I am a previous iPhone user. (As of last Friday) in fact, mu iphone still works and I am receiving all my group texts on that phone still but not on my s4. How do I turn off imessage?

I believe you have to somehow get into your iTunes settings and detach your phone number association with imessages.

On your iPhone, go into settings, pick Messages and turn off iMessage. You need to do that on every device you received messages on (iPad, iPhone, iPod).

After a little while, that should remove your phone number from iMessage and text messages should start flowing through.

Hope that helps.

what if i dont have my old iphone? i know for a fact i am not getting group text messages. i went on my mac and deactivated the imessage feature. what else would i have to do?

Did you select the box within your messenger to allow group texts?

1. On PC log into iTunes using apple ID and password (the same ID and password you used to buy apps from your iPhone)
2. Go to manage accounts setting
3. Change your password and save the new one
4. Group replies (on a single thread) now should start to appear using stock S4 messaging app. It did for me anyway.

I have a new galaxy s4, which is great after switching from a nokia lumia 710. What shocks me is that I cannot send or recieve group messages under a single thread, which I could do on my lumia. It doesn't even give me the option under messaging settings to turn group messages on. Please help

I have a problem with my group text messages too. I can receive the messages but can not reply. My phone says there are more than 20 recipients and some will be lost but it doesn't allow me to "SEND" at all. Help please?

Did someone ever figure this out? I am still having problems...

I think I may have. Under message settings there's a group message toggle (it's under MMS). Turn that on and then when you go back to any messages you sent to more than one number the phone will convert them and it will say group messaging. Won't this incur extra charges for me though as it is now an MMS?

I just spent 2 hours on tech support with a very advanced and helpful AT&T support representative. He ended up testing LG Optimus Pro, LG G2, HTC (several versions) and Samsung S3 & S4 phones from their lab for group texting capability. The only phones that support the group texting are the Motorola (Atrix, Atrix2, Atrix HD, Moto X and IPhones). I define "group texting" as follows: an individual is able to send a text message or mms message to multiple other phone numbers, those recipient phones receive the text showing the full group of people on the list, and the recipients are able to respond to all those people on the list. I hope this is helpful to everyone.
