Confirmed coming 5/8

Just completed my pre-order online at BestBuy.com. Redeemed some reward points I had piled up. I'm actually excited about a phone again. Can't wait for it to get here.

The "schedule for standard delivery" showed it getting to me between 5/2 and 5/5 but when I went in to check the order status it said it was back-ordered. It would be great if they shipped it early enough that I'd get it the day before it's in the store. I probably should have selected store pickup but what's another day to have them ship it to my house.

So I thought it was going to cost me an arm and a leg to upgrade since I got screwed by the premier changes... just got done chatting with sprint support online--

What are you guys thoughts on the Best Buy Buyback program.... it is $60 for the Nexus, and if I'm reading this right, if I get a new phone between a year from now and two years from now, I'd get 40-20% of the $699 value of the phone back..... That is A LOT back.... I guess if I break or lose the phone I'm out that $60 but still... might be a good way to supplement getting my premier gold upgrade taken away.... thoughts?

I played with one today at best buy, phone is WAY faster and smoother than the Epic I purchased and returned. I am glad I held out.

I'm thinking about doing this, especially if I can use a BB Gift Card to purchase it. You figure in 22 months, we'd be eligible for an upgrade, so they give us $140 for the phone and a new phone, hopefully, would likely be around $199. It looks like we would have a 2 month window though to pick a phone, since the buyback looks to end at 24 months. If I had to pay cash, I would only really be getting $80 for my phone in 2 years ($140 for the phone, less the $60 for the buyback program), which i guess still wouldn't be too bad considering how fast tech is moving. Gonna have to do some more research on this one...

I had considered doing that at one point, but you only get the money back in the form of a BB gift card. If you want to apply that towards a new phone off contract you will be putting it towards the super-inflated off contract BB price of the next phone that comes out.

I think you get the most benefit out of the program if you still have yearly upgrades. The buyback month counter starts 31 days after purchase, so the 6-12 mo is actually 7-13 mo after you bought it. You'd get 40% back on the original phone ($280) minus the cost of the program comes out to $220 which would pay for your next subsidized phone.

I ordered earlier this evening but I selected expedited shipping and my delivery date is 5/2 or 5/3. But I also got the "backordered" status when I go bestbuy.com and check the order status.

I'm wondering if anyone thinks it will come on those dates, or would it come after its offically released which would 5/9?

I'm hoping that they're allowed to ship it so that it's in my hands on May 8th (which, since it's a Sunday, would mean in my hands by May7th.) Probably not though. I'm doing my best to forget that I ordered it so that when it comes in the mail I'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

I'm thinking that BB would probably ship the phone closer towards the May 8th release date. However, if that's the case why would BB state the May 2 / May 3 as the release date? Why not just state "delivery date unknown" or something to that affect. Instead of having customers expect delivery on May 2 or may 3rd like whats indicated.

Nevertheless, I'm having my Nexus S shipped to my job because I don't want it left outside my home. But if it's gonna be delivered on Saturday (May 8), then I'd call BB and have it delivered to my house.

I believe you have to sign for it.

Looks like the full retail price at a Sprint store will run $549.99, and instant rebates have been extended until 6/04/11. Sorry if this info has already been posted.

Yeah...I just called BB to have it delivered to my home instead of my job. She told me that most orders will be shipped next week with most people having it by the release date. I don't know how true this is but she also said that they will be delivering phones on Saturday as well.

I do know that when i ordered a Nexus S back in December, it was also delivered on a Saturday. So we'll see....

i did a chat yesterday with BB and the gal said the shipping estimate online was incorrect and the phones would not ship till the 8th= who knows - they don't!
