(Confirmed) Multicolor Notification LED

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

One more question.. does it "fade blink" like MacBook Pro LED standby light or just "hard, sudden blink".

Thanks!!

I assume just hard blink like all other Android phones, but you never know I guess. It could happen

Not all Android phones hard-blink. I know that at least the EVO 4G does soft-blinking (for one of the LEDs, at least. I don't have too much experience on that, my boss had one).

I hope they have it soft-blinking because a) it would be nicer looking than hard-blinking and b) because it'd be nicer-looking, it fits along with Android's new goal of being a really good-looking UX.

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Yeah, when I jumped from BB to the Droid X, I was sad that it didn't have a multicolored notification light. When I had my BB, I had emails, texts, calendar stuff, and incoming calls all come in as different colors so I knew what I got a glance at the phone.

I'm hoping for one here in the Nexus!

The LED on the Droid X can do multiple colors. You just have to have an app that supports it. For example, I use GO SMS for texts and can set the notification to one of several colors.

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Does it stay blinking until you actually clear your notifications, or does it stop after a period of time? I like the idea of a notification LED, but what bugs me about it on the Thunderbolt is that it stops after, like, five minutes. Which kinda makes the feature useless, yanno?

Presumably it will keep blinking until you either clear them out or at least peek at them in the notification shade. That's how they worked in Gingerbread (when actually, AOSP ended LED notifications when the screen came on at all). Honeycomb I believe keeps blinking until you clear them out.

With Honeycomb the notification light will come on with a notification in standby obviously. Simply bringing it out of standby will stop the notification light from blinking even if you don't check them and put it back into standby. You can peak but by that point the notification led won't be coming back on until the next notification in standby.

To an early post. The xoom has a fade blink. It will blink on fast then fade out.

I think it's a fade blink. It's not a hard blink, if I am clear about the differences, from my Desire LED.

It comes on slowly. It's a pain waiting for it to appear though haha.

Maybe I could film it down when I have the chance and you guys can see for yourself. I really think it's a soft fade blink. Or the whiteness is just soft fade. :P

Don't think it stops after a period of time. I can't recall if it gets cleared once I wake the phone up or not...

Will run another test again when I have the chance. :)

Galaxy Nexus one is definitely a slow fade. It grew my patience out to see its repetitiveness lololol.

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

My fear is that fade blink often comes with a single color notif light :(

Anyhow, it will look good regardless. Thanks :)

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

I really hope its a slow fade blink thats multicolored as well. I just really like the way they look compared to fast blinks. Its almost more 'elegant' if you will.

If you do get some footage of it that'd be great!

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Its funny how the smallest things about our phones make the difference to us. And its sad that sometimes companies and carriers skip the little things to either cut corners or because they don't want it on their device. I wish that phone manufactures would just take the lot of us for their phone designing process, and have us show them what will make us want the phone, make them pay more attention to details. My two cents ;)

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Sorry phone out of my reach now, cannot test further. :-\

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Oh well. Thanks for what you did do. :)

We'll be able to try for ourselves soon enough.

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Yeah I also ordered the 16gb from Clove. So...YEAH! Haha...

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

Here is an example of the Notification LED in action. It unfortunately doesn't answer the multi-color question.

Re: Multicolor Notification LED

That was either light blue or white. So, the colors I have seen so far include: purple, green, blue and/or white. The chance that it's true multicolor is looking good.
