AC Question

My Nexus 7 (2013) was purchased end of 2014 so it's long out of warranty and ASUS frankly are not very helpful when that happens.

My son was playing some game on it when it suddenly went dead. It was on a charger at the time but as it felt hot I decided to let it cool down first. Half an hour later I tried to restart it a couple of times and nothing happened. Left it on the charger overnight.

Next day still couldn't restart it. Unplugged it from charger, tried different cables and chargers, including (I'm pretty sure) the original charger. Tried various combos of Power + Volume buttons and long press (30 seconds and more until fingers got sore).

Plugged it into laptop and laptop recognises the Nexus but can't see anything in it. According to Properties, the Nexus is fully charged. Still can't restart.

But now the LED occasionally blinks.

Roughly once every ten seconds. This is a *very* slow steady continuous blinking.

I searched on YouTube and it looks like the notification pulse test. It keeps going for a little while even unplugged from a charger.

I have taken the back off and the battery appears to be securely seated. Not a techie but the connectors don't seem to be loose. Replaced the back, put it back on a charger and eventually the blinking started again.

When I've tried the long press combos several times there's a bit of warmth in the top half of the Nexus (the camera half, not the LED half).

I feel like my Nexus is not dead but I just haven't figured out how to wake it up yet. Can anyone advise?

Thanks, have started considering that the battery may have to be replaced. Hope that's all it is.

It's been on the charger more than 24 hours, using the original charger, and still cannot be booted into the recovery menu.
Just that slow blinking LED.

Welcome Ceeberry. The only time I saw a slow blinking LED is when my battery was dead, dead. A charge fixed it. I suspect your battery will no longer accept a charge. Could it be the internal charging circuits, yes, but I'd go with battery failure.

Mine went dead for a week one time I left it on the charger and tried to turn it on at least once every other day then one day it just worked. Hasn't done it to me again since. No clue why it stopped working or why it started working again. Sorry
