Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

He said that according to their computers the Nexus One is not going to be offered at discounted price, and you have to buy it unlocked. I don't really know whether that's true or not, b/c that would be completely senseless.

That would be a deal breaker for me. Unique marketing strategy or whatever, I'm not paying $500 for a phone. I've been with Verizon for years and have absolutely no plans to switch carriers. And since Verizon doesn't offer non-subsidized rate plans, sign me up for another 2 year contract and give me the N1 at an awesome price.

It's either that, or I guess I'm waiting for the HTC Incredible.

If Verizon doesn't sell it subsidized I'm going to be pissed! $500 is way too much for me to put down on a phone.

Is there seriously only 4 days left before I can order my VZW version of the Nexus One.....I can hardly wait.

If the N1 is unsubsidized. I'm absolutely going with the HTC Incredible. It's my only logical choice. Damn near same phone... potentially $300 cheaper!!

It'll be interesting to see if Verizon announces month-to-month, bring your own phone, unsubsidized plans that are cheaper than contracted, subsidized plans, when the Nexus One for Verizon is released. That would make the N1 choice a bit more of a consideration.

There's something I don't get with this unsubsidized phone thing. It's not like there is only one Nexus One phone that has GSM and CDMA and will work on any network, is there? You have to get a version of the phone that works with the network of that carrier. Since you can't take the phone from one network to another why would you want to pay full price for the phone? Sure, you're not locked into a 2 year contract, but if you change networks you need to get a new phone anyway. If you really want to change networks, is the cost of two unsubsidized Nexus Ones less than the cost of two subsidized phones plus one termination fee?

The leaked pics of a black and red Incredible actually make it look pretty sweet..

If I were on Verizon I think I could be content with the Incredible if the Nexus never came.

I have an INSIDE SOURCE... They say N1 will be in the stores! I know I know.. It's confusing. I'm confused too! I asked multiple times and the insider said "It will be sold in stores".
Think about it.... It's CDMA, sales for Google suck, Google needs to move this phone before better ones come out!
Thats what I think anyways... Don't quote ME on the last part of the quote, unquote.

I'll bet you a retail versus, it will not be sold in stores!

Idk, the Incredible does seem like it'll be a pretty sexy phone, but I think I'm still going to hold out for the Nexus One. The only thing that the Inc. has that is better is the 8 MP camera. According to various websites, it only have a half the processing power that the Nexus One has. That makes the Nexus One more valuable to me.

It's actually the same processor...however the Incredible is underclocked at 768Mhz compared to 1Ghz(1000Mhz). Aesthetics is important to me...so I've passed on the Droid and I will pass on the Incredible for the N1, plus I'm kind of a Google Fanboi...I love the complete integration of Google system.

underclocking the snapdragon I'd say is a good thing... it's a battery hog... so that will help... the biggest beef with the Nexus I have is battery life...

After waiting so long to switch to Verizon from Sprint...I got an idea to call my Sprint rep today after knowing the Sprint made an official announcement for the near future plans for the N1. They said if a CDMA version came out before Google officially released the Sprint plan...then yes they would activate the CDMA "unlocked" N1 on the Sprint network. Sprint is cheaper than Verizon, but I know that Verizon's 3G speeds are faster. If I go month to month it really won't matter I can try out Sprint and switch if I'm not satisfied...I suppose. Thoughts??

I thought Sprint used a different CDMA network or something like that. If not wouldn't everyone just activate their Verizon phones on Sprint?

no, sprint uses same cdma network...but they restrict it to phones that have esn's in their sprint database. that way verizon cdma phones havent worked in the past because their esn's weren't in sprint's database

They are the same...but from my understanding the problem is that neither one of the carriers will activate each others phones or any phone that they can not support, meaning answering questions about. And since Sprint/Verizon will be both getting it they have it in their system and can support it.

The fact that the Incredible is underclocked from the factory has not really been officially released. (At least from my random web searches.) I've read some info that says it's completely not true. We'll just have to wait and see. That being said, this will be my next phone if VZW doesn't subsidize the Nexus One. Hopefully we'll hear something tomorrow!
