Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Well the Nexus One should be void of any Verizon branding and apps, correct?

Which is one of the reasons why I want the N1.

That's corect. I'm sure you will be able to download My Verizon, or VZNav or whatever if you want to but it wont be pre-installed and the phone wont have any branding.

From Twitter:

@androidcentral :Ok, just got official word from Verizon re: the Nexus One...

@androidcentral : ... and the answer is they can't tell us. :( Sorry, folks. But they're here, and we asked.

Come on guys, why play with our emotions like that. I mean this is starting to turn me away from the Nexus 1, and perhaps this is why ferniesp is so tight lipped?

Verizon has absolutely nothing to do with the launch itself so why would they know anything in advance? This a a Google phone that is COMPATIBLE with Verizon. They wont sell it on the VZW site, you wont see it in any VZW stores, and odds are VZW wont advertise it (Google May) in the media. This is Googles baby.

I apologize if this has already been answered - is the consensus that the Nexus One on VerizonWireless will be over $500 market or around $200 if your uber lucky enough to randomly have your window to upgrade around the release?

It'll be the same price as the Spring and AT&T versions on google.com/phone and thus far TMo is the only ones that are allowing it on contract so unless something changes odds are you wont be able to use your upgrades.

I can't see why this Nexus is getting so much hype with you guys. It's basically the Motorola Droid in different form. It's not going to do anything magically different then the Motorola. I'll get the Nexus when it comes out....maybe. I, like others, am losing interest big time. There are too many other good phones coming out that will be better.

It's Google's own phone, the one (along with the Droid) they are encouraging developers to use. It will get the newest OS releases first.

And as far as it being basically the same phone you need to do your research: more powerful processor by nearly 2x, more RAM and more ROM.

He's just a guy that wants to troll around on forums aggravating people. When you guys respond to what he says it fuels his fire.

Or else he's talking about the Droid:

If you they are the same then why are you waiting around for the Nexus

I've got it (the Droid) already.

I took it as he has the Droid already as well. Everybody needs to relax. It'll get here when it gets here. And the moment it does I'll get it. Then it won't just be googles baby it'll be mine too. =)

Will Verizon announce it today when they announce Skype? Here is hoping......I too am getting tired of waiting.

Mikey at SoftSailor reported "We’ve just received a tip from an inside source who claims that the Nexus One is coming at Verizon by the end of next week, ahead of the HTC Incredible"..."We cannot confirm the Verizon Nexus One release date, but we’ve got to say that we trust this tipster as he hasn’t once failed in delivering the goodies."

lets get this thing out already.....im not blaming google - it's more than likely verizon running extensive tests to make sure its up to their standards...but lets f*kin go! I got this brick of a blackberry that im dying to ditch...i even deleted bbm off my blackberry to get accustomed to life without it!

Actually, that may not be 100% true. Verizon surely needs to have plans in place, support for phones that they did not sell themselves (for the first time), etc. I'm not saying that Verizon is holding up the launch - I have no clue at all - but, clearly, Google cannot start selling a phone that works on Verizon if Verizon is not ready to give it service.

Also, I find it hard to believe that Google is just going to launch without telling Verizon ahead of time when it is happening. It seems obvious that Verizon will have to know in advance when they are going to to start activating Nexus One phones.

On another topic, reading this thread in the last few days is like listening to my kids' beefs with their peers when they were very, very young. "Ferniesp says that there is no Great Pumpkin. How would he know? He's just making it all up. He's just a stupid stupidhead!" Seriously, that's what a lot of you sound like. Relax. It's coming. If you can wait, wait. If you can't wait, then get a Droid, or an Eris, or switch to another carrier and get one of their phones.

Deep down I think we all get a bit childish when we are waiting for our next new "toy" (whatever toy that may be) to arrive. It is human nature and our always connected, real time update expectations don't make it any easier.
