Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Dumb question but since the N1 will be my first android phone, what exactly is sense UI? is it just the bubble clock on the top? If so im glad its not on the N1

I don't have one to try it for myself but supposedly you can go to > settings > Applications > manage applications > (It will take a while) scroll down to HTC sense > and press clear defaults.

I remembered reading that somewhere myself so I went and found it again.

Thanks!!!!

Hey everyone. First post here. :)

I too am eagerly awaiting the VZW version of Nexus One. The wife and I are currently stuck back in the dark ages with LG enV2's, and I've finally decided it's time to upgrade to a smartphone. Well, the wife is probably going to get the enV3 since she doesn't have any need for an internet capable phone. But the time has come for me to take the plunge. I was going to get the Droid until I saw this beauty (N1). So anyway, here I am.. scouring the internet for any morsels of info as to when the N1 will be available on Verizon. lol

Also, I'd like to weigh in on the internet versus in-store debate. I would rather purchase the phone directly in-store. Because that way I would be assured that my new-every-two would apply to the purchase. I'm also worried that if it's purchased directly from Google, I may not be able to get on the family plan I want. It looks like this is the case for the T-mobile version.

In any event, I am patiently (NOT!!!) awaiting any concrete evidence as to when the N1 will be sitting in my grubby little hands. :)

BTW, I also agree that Apple is starting to feel the pressure from Android. No, of course Android does not have anywhere near the market share as iPhone (yet). But it's growing a whole lot quicker. And just look at all the great products HTC is putting out (now or very soon). HTC is still a relatively small company, but is positioned to really dominate Android sales. It's no wonder Apple is gunning for them now. I actually feel sorry for iPhone users. Because if Google gets pulled into this mess, well, there goes native support for GMail (and googlemaps, search, etc.) on the iPhone. Something about biting the hand that feeds them...

Why can't Verizon sell the Nexus One is the stores and still have Google sell it online. Why have to order it online and have it shipped from Google. I walk in to Verizon and I want a Nexus One why not allow them to have them in the stores. I can see this happening, Google allows recovers from their mistakes and I believe they learned their lesson. They will not change their model, but maybe flex it to work better. Customers can go to their local Verizon store and buy and receive a Nexus One all at once, or they can buy on unlocked from Google.com/phone. A win/win situation.

Dont think thats gonna happen though. Looks like it'll only sell online, which is a dumb move by Google. If they want to sell a million of these things they have to put them in stores. People want to test / fool with a phone before they buy it.

I agree. Besides, it seems like they need help from Verizon to advertise the thing. Google is not going to sell a million of them unless at least a million people know about it!

Only thing I worry about, buying it in the store, is Verizon mucking with the phone.. changing this, adding that, etc.

I know it's hard to understand what Google is trying to do...they are not trying to out sell the iPhone or the Droid first and foremost. Their main focus is to change the way mobile phones are sold. They are trying to minimize the middle man. Now of course they want to sell a million phones to make more money, but the way I see it they aren't a phone company and they have enough money to do this little experiment. I do agree with everyone that if they did more advertising and had them in store...they could sell a landslide of phones. However if you look at what their main goal is...it's pretty unique and it seems to be doing well comparatively. Plus their overhead is amazing low compared to anyone else! I'm not an economics major, but the less overhead you have means more profit you make, even if you're selling less than competitors.

It seems with the AT&T and Roger's compatible phone now available...and it seemed to just appear...no big hoopla. This will probably happen the same way with the VZW version! I don't think there will be a huge announcement...it will just appear. Be on the look out!

I dont think theres going to be a big announcement for the N1 on Verizon. I think its just going to show up on the Google phone site, much like the AT&T N1. I do think Verizon is going to have a huge marketing push for the Incredible when that finally gets released.

I see N1 is not subsidized on ATT... anyone know if it's going to be subsidized with a new contract on VZ?

Crazy that AT&T now has their own N1 and it wasn't even announced before the Verizon announcment.

I suppose there is a whole system to put into place with Verizon...the will have to be tied into the activation system and what not. With the AT&T, it's just an unlocked phone compatible on their network.

Better be! I can't throw down $530 for a phone!

I can't imagine spending so much money on a phone... My contract with TMo ends on April 12th... I really hope N1 and/or Incredible come out before then...

Also.. anyone know how this works? - I buy the phone online, with, lets say, a new 2-year contract, get the phone by mail in a day or so.. and only after that I can go to a VZ store and get my sim card?
