Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

that's what it said

Interesting. When I looked at the page, there was no date. Just said "coming soon".

Yeah and it just said HTC Incredible not DROID Incredible this morning. It's a staging site...it's there for the purpose of testing a page and working out the kinks, I'm sure we'll see this as an official page again shortly.

this looks like an impossibility for the N1 to come out before april 29th because it says the "next" in line for droid saga is incredible.

Litigation delay

There was no injunction. HTC continues to import all phones that Apple allege are infringing. As I said, HTC introduced both the N1 with AT&T bands and the HD2 after the lawsuit was filed. Oh, and, of course, HTC and Sprint announced at CTIA the EVO, and announced that it will ship this summer.

In early April the ITC decided that there was enough merit in Apple's complaint to start an investigation. There has been no injunction against the importation pending the result of that investigation. It should be noted that the ITC began an investigation last January in the Nokia suit filed against Apple that affects Apple phones, iPods and notebook computers. Apple continues to import these, and very famously introduced the iPad, which likely uses the same allegedly infringing power management technology.

This lawsuit has simply nothing to do with the timetable of the N1 (or Incredible) launch.

You are correct that there is no injunction, only a patent lawsuit against HTC.

You are Incorrect that the lawsuit has nothing to do with the release date. Even insiders at Verizon are saying that the litigation is causing the delay.

Apple timed this lawsuit beautifully to do the most damage/delay to the release of a phone that will severely hamper their sales. There are alot of people who went to AT&T to get an Iphone despite the network defects. But they are stuck because Verizon doesn't have something that can complete. N1/Incredible will lure many of those users back to Verizon and away from the Iphone.

Good for Apple, sucks for us.

See my only concern about this article is that if it is true how come only this small website/blog has posted this and no other bigger website has found out information like this. I am sure that engadget has insiders better than this website that will give more accurate information.

From what I have read it doesn't seem that the lawsuit is affecting being able to sell the N1. Some of the things I have read said that since they are updating new software that it takes longer to do that. But honestly who knows. Absolutely no one knows what is causing this delay and everything is just speculations. Oh how we love the waiting game.

I am holding out for a little after the INC is released to see about the N1. I have always leaned towards the N1. I feel google has a trick up their sleeve and the N1 is going to be amazing for Verizon. I can hope

DAMN IT! Now even the Incredible has a official release date and pre-order info sign up!!

how come when i click on the link it asks me for a username and password?
The link was to a temporary development server Verizon was using. Once they figured out everyone was going there, they locked it down.

There's a screenshot up here: http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-incredible-now-droid-incredible-coming-soon-verizon

[Edit] FYI, this was discovered on androidforums.com - it spread from there. Even BGR picked it up. Engadget doesn't do very much Android investigative stuff.

You found a website that says something, congrats. Now show proof that they're actually reliable. :-P

Does anyone still care about this phone on Verizon? Incredible was up on Verizon's site today announcing a 4/29 release... seeya Nexus!!

I will reserve my judgement until we see the Incredible in action(reviews) and the surprise that the verizon Nexus one will offer. I just don't want to rush out and get the Incredible and then a week later the Nexus releases with better or same stuff. I am going to pay full price for either, seeing that I am in the 7 month of my 2 year contract. I want to be well informed before I drop 500+ on my next phone.

Hey guys: let's keep this discussion about the N1. If you want to discuss the upcoming Incredible, please do so in this thread.

Cory

Thanks Cory,

I've grown a little frustrated with countless posts about the Incredible on the Nexus section of the forum. Mentions of it are fine and comparisons don't bother me.
