Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Understood about talking about INC in the Nexus thread, but I think this ZDNet article is very important here. More "rumblings" that the INC is the N1 for VZW and there won't be any VZW N1:

Is Droid Incredible actually a Nexus One, but without the Google store experience? | Between the Lines | ZDNet.com

I'm sorry but the idea of an similarly different phone that didn't involve Google in the design process would be the new Nexus One is crazy to me. Why would Google put on the phone website that the Nexus One with Verizon Wireless service is coming. Why not just put the Incredible coming soon to Verizon. The Nexus One is the Nexus One, I can't see them calling it the Nexus One on the Google website, and then do a switch-aroo and only sell the Incredible through Verizon only. This would be the same thing as Apple putting on their website iPhone coming soon to Verizon Wireless...then right at the end changing the design, and exclusively giving it to Verizon and calling it the "All Mighty". Am I wrong?

I've read numerous reports about this as well. The argument is both phones have similar specs why should both available on one network? I believe the answer is they can both exists. There is such a big separation from the Nexus One to Verizon. Simply put, the N1 will only use Verizon's network and have little else to do with specific carriers.

I also believe the N1's greatest appeal is that it will be available for all four major US carriers. I'm sure Google doesn't care how well the N1 sells on Verizon's network versus T-mobile's for example.

This is my understanding as well.

Has anyone thought that maybe they will release a Verizon Nexus One with the rumored update that is supposed to be released soon? Since it's only a rumor, we have no idea when or if it will come out. It makes complete sense however if they do coincide the release of an update and the Verizon Nexus One.

With the announcement and approval of the Incredible...I'm assuming that the Nexus One uses the same radio, and nearly everything else is pretty similar. So why wouldn't Verizon approve the Nexus One for the network. So what could be the hold up now?

I will reserve my judgement until we see the Incredible in action(reviews) and the surprise that the verizon Nexus one will offer. I just don't want to rush out and get the Incredible and then a week later the Nexus releases with better or same stuff. I am going to pay full price for either, seeing that I am in the 7 month of my 2 year contract. I want to be well informed before I drop 500+ on my next phone.

I too will wait for the Nexus One....the only difference i see is 3 + megapixels, 8 Gigs mem, and sense UI. Remember there was suppose to be some surprise when The Nexus One comes out, maybe they pimped it out too. Maybe Google had a deal where the let Verizon announce their phone and now can release the Nexus One this coming Tuesday. I am sure there is some kind of agreement between the two companies. Once the Google Nexus One is released it will be free of Verizon's stranglehold and be able to release OTA updates without Verizon's blessing. 6oo dollars for a phone that Verizon has full control of software updates or 530 dollars for a phone that will always be the first updated and Google's flagship.........

i agree with you chuck - i have my fingers crossed that this gets released in the same time frame, i dont want sense and i def dont want that ugly back....i can careless about the camera as its only for on the fly pics not real pics...thats what my dslr is for

im in the same boat, except the back on the incredible is actually going to be black so you can rule that out. just found this out for myself actually, check it out in the incredible thread if you want to see the pics.

I hate to add to the speculation but surely, surely the N1 will be available on or before the 29th. If not, at least Verizon users will have a viable alternative.

I've decided to wait for the Nexus One regardless. Hopefully if won't be too much longer.

I have made bets before about when the Nexus One will come out for Verizon. I have a very good feeling about April 20th.....Can't wait for my CDMA Nexus One!!!!!!!!!

Oh by the way the ear piece screen on the Incredible looks similar to the Eris. The same one that when I put it in and out of my pocket it rubbed the paint off. I like the look of the N1 so much better.

I'm going to be picking up the Incredible on the 29th. But there is a 30 return policy, so if the N1 drops and it turns out to be a better device, then I'll bring the Inc back and pick this up.

I'm waiting for the N1 to be released still - and if its not the coolest thing since sliced bread then I'll use my NE2 on the Incredible

and I just pretty much guaranteed that it'll be released soon because I spent my phone savings on a new lawnmower last night :)

Patiently waiting now for the Nexus One to release the CDMA version.........Hopefully placing my order on or before April 20th.

Also is it worth 70 dollars for 8 more gigs of memory and 3 more mp of camera?

Chuck I have to give it to you, you are a hopeless hopeful! I as well focus in on Tuesdays. But no longer get disappointed, cause we just don't know anything except in Spring. Suck, but I guess that the way it is.

Sad really, I was pretty jazzed about the N1, but it looks like Verizon will be the first with a "buy me" option...so I'll be going that way.

So to all those that are ready to jump ship and buy the Incredible, how will you feel if the Nexus One for Verizon launches with OS 2.2 or even OS 3 and you are sitting there having to wait like everyone else for the updated OS......???

I believe Verizon has a 30 day return policy. :D

Some smart developer or techie will get the .zip file and then YouTube it for everyone to root :p haha.... Just teasing...

Yea, it seems to me that Google better include a lot more "surprises" in it's VZW N1 for people to holdout. Wish we could hear from Google at this point on their take and plans
