Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Its not what people make it out to be. Sure, it isn't as good as the iPhone's but nothing is. It really isn't a problem, and this is coming from a former iPhone user. If you're basing your decision NOT to purchase because of this issue, then you're not going to be happy with ANY non-iPhone multi-touch device.

I know, like I said it sounds petty, but the mulit-touch on the Incredible seems very close...but I don't want Incredible.

You will NEVER notice the difference. 99% of the time the Incredible and N1 will perform the same with regards to multi-touch. The biggest difference will be when you have more than two touch points, which the N1 screen can't do. But honestly, how many times do you think you'll utilize an app that does that? (I have NEVER had the need to do such a thing)

One thing you have to consider too is that the Incredible very well may have HTC software tweaks to its multi-touch in addition to the newer pad.

Regardless, you shouldn't base your decision just on that, because its something you will almost never notice.

Again, the 'problems' in the nexus one are NOTHING the regular user will notice. I have yet to have any problems with the touch panel. Just because the Incredible's screen is better doesn't mean the N1's is 'worse'.

I know its sound petty, I know, I know. But I'm not a regular user and I use a touch screen mobile device, A LOT all day long, probably more than I should. I can get past all other "problems." I just want the screen to be as responsive as the Incredible seems to be...all in all I like the Nexus One better and will wait for it. If I decide I'm not getting the N1, I will not be getting the Incredible.

Do you have an N1? If you do, thanks for the info! And you're right...I have never needed more than two points! Thanks for the rally! Bring on the Nexus One!:D

Okay it is 12:30 almost and I am strating to get discouraged :(

Why would they not launch the phone today?

Okay now that this has reached 100 pages, maybe someone could send it to Google so they could see how much chatter this has created and maybe someone could give us an update. I do not understand what else they could be waiting for. I am so tired of waiting and being disappointed.

Sorry Chuck, but I just don't think it's going to happen before the Incredible releases. I'm right there with ya. If the N1 drops before 4/29, I'm all over the N1. That's why I haven't pre-ordered my INC yet. I'm holding out till then and if it doesn't drop on the 28th, forget it. Sorry Google, you just lost my money.

I don't get it. They would make such a killing of revenue off a VZW N1, and you know of course they know every day that passes, they are losing more money to customers like us that are pre-ordering and/or will buy the INC on the 29th. Such a shame :(

I'm holding out with you till the 28th, else 9am on the 29th I'm at my local VZW store!

has there ever even been a siting of a cdma nexus one?

Apparently not, you can bet they are in the wild. However how would you spot one? There's no Verizon badging and the externals would certainly look exactly the same as their GSM counterparts.

Someone could be using a CDMA N1 right next to you and you wouldn't even know it. :p Unless you see them hang up before they use data. ;)

haha good point, I am starting to believe there are some revamped hardware changes and they are in production which is why one hasnt serviced, and believe that it will still be a while. Reasons being: 1) trackball 2) home keys are hard to get to recognize your touch and 3) faulty multi-touch etc

I was dead set on the nexus one but now I am perfectly content with the incredible even if the current version of nexus one comes out on same day or soon after. I will only be disappointed if verizon gets a NEW and REVAMPED hardware model of the nexus one.

A few weeks ago my rep told me that the inc would be released on the 29th and the N1 shortly after that. I didn't want to believe it would be that long and knowing that reps often don't have the best information I refused to believe it but now I'm starting to think this was the real deal. Sorry everyone.

The Nexus One's hardware is not faulty. The capacitive touch keys work fin, especially if you're actually touching the right part of the 'button'. ;)

And I don't understand why people insist that the multi-touch is faulty. I have a Nexus One and have had ZERO errors. The experience is 99% of the iPhone's, with that last 1% being issues with Android and not the capacitive panel.

I do. I switched from an iPhone from it. I actually disliked the N1 at first, so I switched back to the iPhone, but then switched back for good to the N1. Like I said its 99% the experience of the iPhone, what that missing 1% being the extra lengths apple goes for things like multi-touch and UI spit and polish. The reason why I decided on the N1 was I just simply liked Android's future prospects better.

I did briefly consider waiting for the Incredible, but Verizon is more expensive than t-mobile, and not having seen it I didn't feel confident about making the jump. I LOVE sense, and would love to have it, but I like the N1's hardware better. (even with some older components like the capacitive panel) Besides, if it comes down to it, I can always flash the desire rom.

On a different but similar note. I saw an interview where Google said that they would sell more than just the N1 on their site....Where are they? The Samsung Galaxy S is going to be sold on all carriers so why is that not on their page? I am just a little confused and irritated.

UGHHHHHHHHH where art though CDMA Nexus One?

The Samsung Galaxy is not a "Google" phone. Expect to see a Nexus 2 (or whatever they will call it) with different hardware. Maybe a slide-out keyboard. Google also stated they might partner with a different hardware manufacturer, moto maybe?

At this point I'd be happy just to see a CDMA N1.

Chuck this is not only 100+ pages now but also 1,000+ comments. I hope the people of Google see this and feel our pain.

I am feeling so much pain everyday having to wait for the N1. I check every single piece of information daily to try to find something. It is so disappointing to wake up everyday and check online in hopes there is some N1 news. Why do I have to wait like 2 more weeks to even hear of anything. I am just shocked that there is no leaks or anything in seriously over a month

Remember when the GSM N1 was leaked weeks/months before its release? It was referred to then as "the worst kept secret."

I hope they dont partner with Motorola. I have always thought(no matter how good the build quality is) they look cheap and for some odd reason they decide to hire the worst designers. HTC is just fine for me and they make great handsets.
