Confirmed, we have the worst still camera...

I love this thread. Carrie and warpdrive actually believe the evo 3d camera is good. Funny stuff guys.

Lol, I hardly think so! Like I said before, I do like the features on this phone a lot and while I initially found the camera to be lacking in some aspects I chose to look for solutions to make it better. All warpdrive has done (as well as the author of the article at The Root of All EVO here EVO 3D: Getting the most out of your camera (2D pictures) | The Root of all EVO) is to try to educate people on how to maximize their camera use on the EVO 3D. For that matter, I think there are those who simply have blinders on and don't want any help. Rather than come up with or try solutions they'd rather complain. I chose to make the best of what I've got because I like the other aspects of this phone so much. We aren't trying to say it's a good camera. What we are saying is that you can make it work.

As for being like iPeople, I have owned a variety of Android devices, my latest now being the Samsung Nexus S that I recently got for another line. I can tell you that the camera is no better and you don't hear the complaining over on those forums like you do over here. Of course, that section is full of developers so if they don't like something they fix it! There have been suggestions here from changing the settings to using a third party app. People use third party apps for everything from the kb to the music player regardless of what device he or she is using.

Great, we all get that you don't like the camera. All we and others have done is try to help, if not you then others who may want it.

Your using the camera to capture habit panky aren't you ?

Stephanie, you are sooo baaad! Lol, might take a third person instead of a third party app to solve that issue if that's the case. Or a tripod. ;)

Well, I can almost guarantee that someone will complain about your post. Funny how I and others can get some really rude comments directed to us and nothing is said. Did you know there is a "No Trolling" sticky in the SGS2 section that states you can't come over there for the purpose of dissing that device? http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...uch/119357-trolling-epic-4g-touch-forums.html. Yet people are allowed to come in here constantly and bash the EVO 3D and those of us who like it. No such rules apparently for the "gimmicky phone. " I also noticed there is no Problems sticky over there either. Not saying people haven't had problems with the EVO 3D, but the SGS2 has had its share too and you aren't greeted with a sticky at the top of the page every time you go there.

For the record, I went over there to check it out because I debated getting one for one of my lines this weekend. Ended up going with the Nexus S though. Couldn't justify spending the extra money when I could get a. 5 month old Google device that would get updated regularly and you can't beat free! ;)

To be clear, I appreciate all the help and the attempts to remedy the built in deficits this camera has. This post is part rant, part solutions. I have tried the tweaks laid out by several members and while some shots improved on some situations, in others they make it worse. My point is I don't have time to and should not have to tweak settings in a point and shoot cell phone camera on the auto setting. Others may and do disagree. Yes, I will be upgrading next year to a phone with a better camera. A shame really, I love the phone.

Vick,

I agree with you. you shouldn't have to change any settings to get a nice shot with a point and shoot camera phone. sadly, this isn't reality with ANY cellphone. are there some phones with better auto settings? sure. but even they have to be adjusted from time to time to get a good shot. it's just that people who do take good shots from their phone wont tell you that.

sadly, the tech isn't good enough yet for any phone to work well with just auto settings. the key here is to learn what you have and then know how to make the adjustments needed to get that good photo. you have to do the same with a simple point and shoot camera, as well as a good dSLR. that's a fact that you can't argue about. after all, why do the real cameras even have all the extra little dials and buttons for if you never have to use them.

sadly camera phones will never match the good compact point and shoots, and the P&S cameras will never match the quality of a good dSLR. if your expecting quality from any camera phone you will be disapointed. take the SGS2 phones...they have a realy good software app that runs the camera, yet it's no better then anything else out there. even the tests that were done in that PC artical are ALL poor-horrable in there own ways. why is that if cameras on phones can be good?

now let me ask you something else...do you think that all my photos are great from my 3yo P&S? don't you think that even with my skills that getting a few bad shots mean that my camera is bad? or do you think that maybe it's the guy behind the lens?
there is sadly no one setting that you need to be set at to take great shots in all lighting. you Vick need to start learning a small amount about photography to at least get something good on any camera...never mind a phone's camera. that's something that all folks need to learn and except or thay will always be dissapointed.

well I think that the nexus S is a 7 or 8 month old phone by now, but I agree...FREE IS GOOD. :D

Actually the Sprint Nexus S 4G was launched on May 8, 2011 :p O:-)

Am really liking it so far. Of course, my 3D is still my main line, but I like having a blank slate so to speak to customize. Unlocking the bootloader sure was easier! ;) Ran into a snag when rooting due to drivers but all in all it went well.

Actually I don't think the camera is any better or worse.

All comes down to the software, with a lil tuning the EVO 3d camera is just as good as any other, its only a cell phone, you want "professional" pictures then use an actual camera not a cell phone with a camera, megapixels don't mean a whole lot when it comes to cell phones anyways, and once u figure out the settings you will c, as far as any auto settings yea they are Crap,
