Confirmed, we have the worst still camera...

Are you serious?! I took that picture at dusk from a moving vehicle when we were entering the park. Ltm, ltm...

Honestly, that persons comment wasn't even worth reply.
It was easy to tell that it was taken art dusk...what do people really expect, for the image to turn out like it was taken in bright Sun ?

I am offended by your comment. lol. jk. I was trying to be sarcastic in my earlier post. I'm just barely on here to remember to reply back. Apologize if I have offended anyone. and I love my Evo3d. Anyhow I created a thread a while back in August on xda requesting people to post some of their 2d shots. Some have actually come out great, including some of my shots. Check em out.

So I never noticed the green hue to the camera until i compared my camera with the Design...the 3D lost...

It sounds like you're still on GB 2.3.3? Upgrading to 2.3.4 have fixed that for me. I also started this thread here

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted your post. I realize that online communication can be tricky. You would not believe how much I've been slammed on here for posting tips on how to maximize the EVO 3d's camera and people saying you shouldn't have to change the settings according to subject matter or environment. I choose to learn all I can and make the best of what we've got. I and warpdrive and others have posted some pretty good pics, including action shots to demonstrate that you can get good results and while some people have chosen to spend the time to adjust their settings and have reported improvement, others just want to insinuate that if you don't just hate the camera then you don't know what's good. I happen to enjoy this phone and believe this camera is capable of taking pictures that are just as good if not better than other cell phone cameras.

Negative...I'm on 2.3.4. I never noticed it until I compared it with the Design...now I'm upset about it lol

I've only had my Evo 3D for 2 weeks now and I find that doing the auto enhance works really well, and I've taken some good pictures that way, except I prefer dialing up the sharpness to +2 and leaving everything else on Auto. To be honest I'm still trying to find my preferred settings for very low light/night settings. I have tried some of the excellent recommended settings.

Is there a way to save the pic after auto enhancing it so that it simply replaces the original pic? It's not a huge deal but it's a bit of a pain having to go back and deleting the original in the camera shots folder.

I wish I could post more of the pictures I took Sunday but I have to protect the privacy of my friends. I do have a couple I can share.

The first is of my friend climbing a box car (lol don't ask ;)) while a football is being thrown at him. You can see the football in mid-air. The second is of LP Field.

I use my camera to capture those spur of the moment shots that make life a fun ride. For me this is an excellent camera for what it is.

Those are nice shots. What settings do you use?

Try my tips in post #15 of this thread. It should solve it for you.
The green tint is related to the ISO set to auto, with maybe low light and/or flash.
I never had the issue once, but then again I never keep it set on auto.

For low light indoors change the ISO to 400 or 800 and set the white balance to incandescent. Set the white balance to daylight for outdoors.

sent with my EVO3D with lazer beams

Oh, and another thing, I set the review time to no review so I can take more photos in rapid succession. I hope this helps! :)

I will try that. Thanks,
@Carriek, I remember reading that tip from you earlier in the thread. Thank you too.

I'm not just saying it's on par with the mytouch4g as listed in the tests, I'm saying it blows it away in sharpness, contrast, saturation, and dynamic range. (based on the tests you've listed)

clearly your eyes can't see the difference. that's ok. I can't dance. it's no big deal, realy. ;)

Nope. iPhone 4S camera and mytouch4Gslide camera are proven to be superior, there is no disputing this fact, no matter what you may or may not believe. Just becuase you own something, doesn't mean you can't find fault with it. Thay may be your issue, trying to justify your purchase.

I just have one question...is there ANYTHING that you can actually make a positive post or comment about? Everything you post on here is a complaint. I understand people have issues with things. But seriously, if it isn't the camera, it's the YouTube app, Sense, the fact that Sense will "ruin" our update of ICS, the default messenger app, the default People contacts...the list goes on. Why do you even own this phone, or an Android for that matter? You call me the "resident HTC defender," well, you are the resident Oscar the Grouch. You have absolutely nothing nice or postive to say about anything. I post on the EVO 3D forum, and if I can't post that I am happy with my phone here, then where in the hell can I post it? Its not like I'm over on the SGS2 forum dissing the SGS2 and hyping up my EVO 3D. I realize that I may be reprimanded by the mods for calling you Oscar the Grouch because I'm sure you'll complain about that too, but at this point I just flat out don't care.

Yes, I love the phone otherwise (except Sense). I don't come here to make friends, and I don't come as often anymore, Carriek, I come here to have meaningful discussions about issues. More often than not that will mean more negative posts than positive posts.

The fact that I have, as you put it, "nothing nice to say" doesn't negate my argument. The camera is well below average for 2011 smartphone cameras. That is the basis of my argument. Throwing around personal attacts adds nothing to the discussion. Leave my general attitude about everything else out of this thread.

I beg to differ. You were the one who first threw out the personal attacks when you posted, "..as for CarrieK, just ignore her, she's the resident HTC defender." Don't know how one could interpret that as a friendly post. A part of me is ashamed that I even sunk to that level by calling you Oscar the Grouch.

I have no beef with you, even though you did personally attack me first. When I come on here and participate in discussions I try to offer help and positive solutions. You, on the other hand, complain constantly and fan the flames. I am not trying to negate your argument. You don't like the camera. Fine. But there have been lots of tips posted about how to maximize the camera's performance, as well as tips on how to improve other things that may be bothersome to some people about this phone. A lot of people have found the tips to be helpful. On the other hand, when I do that, you come on and talk about how I and others are trying to justify our choice in devices. I am happy with this phone. Any issues I have had have been minor and if I didn't find a workaround, I found an app that would solve the problem. That, imho, is much more productive than insulting someone because they posted, in the EVO 3D forum no less, that he/she is happy with their phone.

Fanning the flames is insisting this camera is on par with some of the others I have mentioned. The other poster said it is BETTER than the other cameras mentioned. Arguments like that are what fan flames. I and some others here simply cannot let those falsehoods go unchallenged.

You have been more than helpful and I appreciate all the tweaks suggested in this thread, they didn't work for me but I appreciate them nonetheless. When someone says the camera is NOT great, there doesn't need to be a defense of that, the camera is NOT great. That's a proven fact. Read the article again. Can it be improved with tweaks? Yes. But that was not the point of the OP and the article I posted. So again, I don't have to be positive to be right.

I'm sorry but plenty of people here found those tips helpful, myself included. A lot of people find this phone's camera to be acceptable for their needs and some even go as far as say its "great". Whether you think otherwise, who are you to tell someone that their positive experience with the camera is "wrong".

Never said that. I said statements claiming that this camera is on par or superior to others stated previously are false. Big difference. Personal expereinces are subjective. Testing isn't.

don't feel bad. I'm ditching the 3d for a better device next year with ICS and hopefully a better camera. What I wouldn't do is ditch it for a device without a qhd or HD screen. Don't mind Carriek, she's the resident EVO defender.

Lol, and you chastised me for attacking you personally when you posted this about me back on October 25, and that wasn't the first time you singled me out and insulted me. In fact, you frequently are condescending and downright rude to anyone who disagrees with you. By the way, since you are so eager to ditch this phone, it doesn't sound like you "love" it all. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I am not a mod so you can post what you want unless they say otherwise, as can I. In the meantime, Pot, meet Kettle. :) :-*

My buddy was showing off his Iphone 4s to me and the camera kills my EVO 3D cam. But hey that's technology for ya. I'm sure there will be a phone out in a few months or whenever that will kill the Iphone cam. I havent seen a absolutely horrible phone cam since 2007. Today some are better than others but not by that much. To me the EVO 3D takes some of the best outdoor natural light shots I have ever seen.
