Connecting to Wifi at work only

Hey, need some help here if you don't mind. Old Pixel, Pixel 3XL and now Pixel 6 Pro owner. Since I got this thing, certain apps won't connect to my wifi at work. I thought it would get fixed in the Dec update, but who knows if I'll ever get that. Browsers work fine, but certain (many) apps just won't connect. Even when I hit certain contacts it hangs to bring them up and when I hit the check for system update it hangs. The apps that don't connect at all are things like The Score, CBS Fantasy, Dunkin' and other commerce-y like apps and Weather Underground. Even Twitter and WSJ apps are slow, but more for loading pictures. It is only a problem on this particular wifi network and didn't/do not have a problem with other phones or devices on this network. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Have you checked with your work IT to see if they recently set up a firewall for certain kinds of servers?

You've also tried forgetting the wi-fi network and adding it back again?

I have sort of the same problem. I work in a hospital and there is the public wifi and then there are some wifi's that you need employee passwords for. With my Galaxy phones if I connected to the private wifi I could access my Ring camera and a few other things, but on the public could not. My pixel 6 isn't capable of connecting to the private wifi's. I talked to IT about it and they said it just depends on the modem that the phone has. It doesn't have anything to do with how new the phone is, but just rather which model the manufacturer puts in it. And apparently the one that the Pixel has doesn't allow for the correct security protocols to be able to connect to the private wifi. It's super frustrating because I have to connect to the public and if I get a Ring notification I have to disconnect wifi (not a super fast task on the Pixel), wait for cellular to reconnect and then open the app and by the point it finally connects to my camera the person is gone. And, the cell signal is too poor in parts of the hospital to skip the wifi.

I feel your pain -- I had to struggle with poor wi-fi and poor cell signal at my hospital for the longest time, but fortunately they finally improved both somewhat. Does your work give you the option of supplying you with a work phone? One would assume they would models that work with the private wi-fi.

No, no work phones. The strength of the wifi is good, just not the compatible security protocols. And deeper in the hospital the cell signal doesn't penetrate. The IT guy told me all iPhones work without a problem. When I was talking to him and he asked and I told him what phone I had it was like, "OH, well that's the problem. iPhones all work fine. We have problems with various Android phones because there isn't a standard between them."

Infuriating. So instead of trying to find a solution that works for everyone, just go with the easiest solution and too bad for those who don't conform.

This stinks. Snare, I feel your pain. Thanks, B. Diddy. No, there is no firewall and I tried the forget/reconnect. It's a small, pretty much home-office, so it is only a basic Comcast router. It just started happening with this particular phone. It's infuriating because it hung just trying to get an old contact the yesterday...it couldn't retrieve it for a little while and I'm just sitting there staring at it for 30 seconds. I can't connect with most apps. If anyone get any ideas, I would appreciate input. Thanks.

Yes, rebooted and actually had the comcast guy come out and he gave us a brand new router. Weird...same problem, but every other device (multiple computers, other android phones and tablets) connect with no problems. I tried the regular network and the "5" network and both have the same problem. very annoying.

You already tried the Reset Network Settings option on the phone?
