i am a senior in high school and will be going to college next year. i already have a considerably powerful home built pc so power is not my issue. right now im thinking of getting a more portable laptop that is not very powerful, just something that gets good battery life. my secondary device would mostly be used for email and word processing on the go. with the recent release of honeycomb 3.0 and 3.1 im wondering if a tablet would be the better option. the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 is shaping up to be a real solid device and its looking like a real viable option for me. im looking for other people's opinions tablet or laptop?

Well I'm a sophmore in college, I think tablets are great for the weight. I drive but still hate carrying my macbook with me bt tanlets are great. Now do u like the ipad? Cuz imho I think it beats android for now. But the reason I'm saying this is cuz honeycomb was just realeased and I had the xoom for a few weeks. It was not the greatest experience. I mean I liked it a lot but the browser kept crashing, not enough good apps. The ipad 2 weight is amazing and idk why but I like it way more. I love android and ios. For my phone android but for tab def apple

i have used the ipad a lot my friend has owned both versions and i don't mind it. i like the feel of it and i definitely like the 10.1 inch screen. i have never really been a fan of ios though which is why i was leaning towards the glaxy tab 10.1. i have read some early reviews and it is thinner and lighter then the current ipad. i don't mind ios that much but i recently got the htc thunderbolt and i love android a lot more. i would definitely consider the ipad though. the biggest thing im wondering is are you able to the things you need to on your tablet as opposed to having a laptop? like i said i don't need the power im just wondering if a tablet will get the job done.

thats a tough call,my mom just got an ipad2 ,i never touched one until just recently on mothersday i played with my aunts. its pretty sweet ,huge screen, all the goodies.but NO flash.if your looking for flash suppor then id reccomend one of the ones you mentioned but u cant go wrong with the ipad considering the sales rate and what not,i dont understand how apple puts out new products every 6months and everyone jumps the gun and runs out and buys them.i cant even believe my mom got it but it was a gift lol, played around with it for a half hour its pretty sweet but this is the only tablet ive ever held in my hands,so i guess u can do a little more research ,read reviews, user reviews/comments...

IMO I dnt think you can like just forgot abut your laptop. Ull always need it for homework, and things but taking the iPad with me to class I find it much more pleasing. It's lighter and feels better . And most sites I use dnt need flash so it fits my needs.

thats my biggest concern, whether or not my desktop and a tablet would be able to get the job done. tablets are a new market and its tough for me to really make a final decision.

docs2go or quick office are all you'd really need on a tablet to make it through a day of school, having windows is a plus for switching between internet and notes or other similar things but I haven't used a tablet long enough to say how much of a pain it would be. Maybe someone will load linux and you could run that for school with a keyboard
