Considering Samsung - Monthly security updates provided?

AC Question

I'm considering the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 2016 to replace an aging 7" Windows tablet that has gone full laggy under Win10. I've never owned a Samsung Android device, and I didn't have any luck finding a commitment on Samsung's support site. Do they issue monthly security updates to Android like Nexus devices do? Do they issue them to lower end devices like the Tab A line? How about new Android versions - a Nexus bought new today would get Android O and maybe P, is Samsung the sort of company that would do that for a tablet like the Tab A?

Thanks in advance!

I agree with @jasonandrews25788 Samsung has yet to show that it will keep up with the monthly updates. The only way to reliably get those is to get a Nexus of Pixel device. That's not even discussing the major OS updates.

Unfortunately, there are no 7" tablets from companies reliably providing OS or monthly security updates.
