Hey, looking to upgrade and the two phones i have in mind are the 10e or the lg g8. one thing keeping me from getting 10e is the screen. Isnt 1080p considered old technology or will be really soon? Also the low 400s PPI resolution is kind of disappointing also in the 10e

That's one of the things you put up with for the price difference.

It's a mistake to look at the resolution and end there. A lot of phones, including the Pixel 3 have it. It's all relative to the size. The screen looks great.

Ever heard of the law of diminishing returns? That MIGHT apply here. 1080p is plenty good, and yes 2K or 4K or whatever are better, BUT is it twice as good? Is it worth the cost of admission? That is the cost to benefit ratio.

im just trying to avoid buying this phone then be the only guy in 2020 with a 1080p screen lol while most high end phones nowadays are qhd

while video quality is moving up to higher resolutions, i dont want to buy this phone then a year later not be able to view anything higher then 1080p while most online and youtube/netflix, etc and all other content has moved up to 1440p

If that's the biggest worry in your life, you're doing very well lol.

Seriously who will even know, let alone care? No one is going to look over your shoulder and shout "ZOMG 1080P U R T3H FAILZ!!1!1" or whatever the current version of that is. Most people cant even tell the difference.

Loll no I wish, im just going to be paying cash for this phone and i plan on using my next phone i purchase for a minimum of three years...thats why i dont want to waste my money after my phone gets considered "old" 12 months after i pay 800$ for it

The difference is hard to notice on a small screen. Some people can't even tell the difference side by side.

It depends what you're after really, but if it's between the S10e and LG G8 I think after three years you'll notice that the G8 never got a single software update more than the 1080p display.

Just played with it. It is a great phone but a few questions. Can you remove the number row on the Samsung keyboard? Also the whites aren’t so white on that display, do I have to keep the brightness all the way up to get it to pure white?

Yes you can for the number row. I think so, this might be an OLED display thing. I'm not sure.

Good to hear. I went through the settings for the keyboard in the menu option and the settings in the text messages but couldn’t find it

You have to go into another menu in the settings.

I use the Gboard keyboard so I don't really know about the Samsung. You can adjust the display colors somewhat.
