Android Central Question

Hey guys,
I'm new to this so don't be to hard on me!
So I've recently been going through my Google Contacts and I synced and merged them with my phone contacts. But now when I go in to add a new contact, on the drop down it automatically says it will save to Google Contacts. I'm just wondering if I can save it to Phone without going into the drop down as sometimes I might be in a hurry getting a number off someone and save it to the wrong place. So if I can set phone to my default contact account or something then that would be great.
Please answer this if you know the solution, it makes my life that little bit easier.
Thanks!

I would suggest just saving it as a Google contact. The phone keeps a local copy in case you don't have a connection so that's not really a concern.

Is there some reason you want to save to the phone and then sync it to a Google contact?

Hey it's me again,
I'm just a very fussy person and I like everything perfect. I don't usually use Google Contacts so I think it's very handy to just have them on the device

Welcome.

The contacts app is the same, wherever you save the contacts. If you're going to eventually save them to Google anyway, just do it from the get-go. They'll be on the device with your account synced and will always be backed up.

The Google contacts are on the device, you don't need an internet connection to use them. Making them Google contacts just makes sure that you can set them to automatically back up to Google (which is the default - you don't have to do anything). That way, if you have to do a factory reset, reflash the ROM, bring the phone in for service, lose the phone or have a car drive over it and have to replace it - you don't lose your contacts. If they're phone contacts, if something happens to the phone (including a buggy update) you lose all your contacts.

Fussy people make sure that everything is backed up, and making sure that all your contacts are Google contacts just makes one part of that a little easier.
