Contacts gone from galaxy s7

My s7 is only showing 4 contacts but in what's app numbers are there but no names

Contacts and WhatsApp are separate. For WhatsApp problems contact WhatsApp.

Foe Contacts, if they were entered as Google contacts (first line when you edit a contact), go to Google Contacts, hit More, then Restore contacts... You can restore contacts deleted within the previous month. If they were entered as Phone, Device or SIM contacts, they're gon, unless you understand SQL, can find the database file the contacts are in, install a SQLite editor and update the deleted records to make them active. Which is why all contacts should be entered as Google contacts. (And Contacts sync, in the Settings/Accounts/<your google account>/Sync section should be enabled.)
