The contacts on my phone are not in my contacts in gmail. My gmail is the gmail used for the phone and everything else is synced but the contacts.

When I go to "People" then menu I have the following options

Add Contact
View
Import/Export
Back Up
Delete
Company directory

How do I get the contacts from my phone into gmail?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.

1. Go to Settings->Accounts & Sync, tap on the Google account, and un-check the box for Contacts
2. Go back to People, hit menu, then Import/Export, choose Export to sd card, and if it asks which group you'd like to export, choose Phone. If it doesn't ask, then don't worry.
3. Go to Settings->Manage Applications->All->Contact Storage, and hit clear data.
4. Go back to the People app to verify that all contacts have been erased.
5. Hit menu->Import/Export, choose Import from sd card, choose to import them under your Google account vs. as phone contacts, and choose the same backup file that you just did (they will probably automatically import themselves if that is the only time you have backed them up).
6. Go back to the Google account in settings and re-enable contact sync. It should take a couple minutes (spinning icon will disappear once done)

Afterwards, you can verify that they're synced by going to People->menu button->view, and making sure all contacts show up under Google, and not under phone. Or also by logging in to Gmail online and verifying that they're there.
