Contacts not showing up

So I have over 1000 contacts. Most appear on my N1, but not all.

I tried clearing contacts, power cycling and reloading, but the same contacts still are not showing up.

Even weirder--a contact I created on the phone appears in google, but not on the phone.

Any suggestions?

ps: I am still on day one with this phone, so be nice. I am a long-time Palm poweruser, though.

So Google said to clear the cache. That did not fix it. Next Google says perform a factory data reset. What happens after I do the reset.? Will all my settings, apps, screens, etc come back after I enter my gmail account info?

im pretty sure it means your phone will reboot and everything will be as when you first got the phone
