Contacts Search

I am a bit frustrated with trying to search for contacts on my Epic. For example, I have a contact with a business name of Custom Heating and Cooling. I couldn't remember the "Custom" part of it so I was trying to find it by the word "heating" and the Epic contacts app couldn't find it. I found it by installing atakephone from the Market and it found it right away. Is there no way to do this without buying another app?
