Contract Cancellation Grounds with GNex?

I am so tired of my Galaxy Nexus and all of the issues. Full bars 3/4g but all grayed out and I cannot make calls nor does my Google Maps work (EXTREMELY frustrating). I am just tired of it.

Does anyone know what I need to do to cancel my contract and not have them charge me? I've tried replacing my phones (on #5 now), I've tried reasoning with them, I've tried asking for a different phone but all they want to offer me are garbage devices, I've asked for an early upgrade. Nothing works.

Do I need to send Verizon a certified letter or call the disconnection department and tell them why I am cancelling and ask them to note my account or what? You would think this would be cost prohibitive for them to keep sending me refurbished phones over and over again.

Please help...

Get a 6th phone or buy another outright. Your last option is to open another line on your account to get a phone at the discounted price (this is only a good deal for Verizon as you will pay more over the long haul). My advice is get another replacement.

I'm sure it can be done, but it won't be nearly as simple as writing them a letter and saying the phone doesn't work. Otherwise, they would have that happen every time someone wanted to switch. If you have had issue after issue, and have it well documented, and have had numerous replacement phones, you might stand a chance. In all likelihood, they would try and have you swap phones. Since you have been offered that - tell them you want ______ phone, and just stand there until they give it to you. You should be able to get almost anything besides a GSIII without too much trouble. Be nice, polite, but firm. If the phone is not newish (<1 year) then you are probably stuck.

It is extremely difficult to get out of a contract without paying the ETF. I would continue to ask for a different phone. Maybe you are asking the wrong people. If you are talking over the phone, try going into a store and talk to someone and vice versa.

That's crazy.

Make sure they aren't extending your contact

Before they let you out of contract they may offer you a different phone. They offered me a Razr Maxx. I decided on one more replacement and it was the one for me.

yeah id ask a different store and the phone CSRs. Thats how I was able to get out of my bionic and into this GNEX. I personally like my new phone in comparison to the bionic and since I was on #3 replacement instore they offered me some crap phones like the Samsung Stratosphere or the LG Spectrum (AND MAKE SURE THEY ANNOTATE YOUR ACCOUNT THEY OFFERED THE PHONES) but said to try the phone CSRs and sure enough, I was able to get a brand new GNEX with battery and back because it was annotated on my account that the store said to try the phone support and that they offered me a different phone. So whatever you do make sure you try a different store and make sure you get them to note your account when they finally offer you a new phone.

You can do that, but that's not going to get you out of paying the ETF. Your best bet is to get another replacement and/or see if they'll offer you a different phone.
