Contract w/ Verizon up in November-Can I upgrade sooner??

Uncle!!! I tried BestBuy today and they didn't even no of Verizon's Nov 15th offer so trying to talk to a kid about it was a waste of time. I guess I just wait until Nov which sucks!! By then the iPhone 6 might look appealing and available

If you want to "Edge Up" instead of signing a contract, Verizon is offering through 9/30 to let you upgrade if you are within 12 months of your contract ending.
So my contract is up December 14th. If i go into the store and sign up for edge I can upgrade now?

Yes--But Why would you pay full retail at $599 when you could wait a couple months and pay a plan and get phone @ $199

I cant believe it. I went to get my new Galaxy after getting this memo from you guys and I was at the register when they told me my plan expires Nov 18th. I thought it was the 14th. I'm shy 3 days and they wouldn't work with me. I even said its my birthday. Very disappointed. My question is where can I keep my eye out for another promotion like the one shown above? or should I try another Verizon store???

Ok, here's my paranoid story: I saw the upgrade early post on AC, went on My Verizon at lunch artwork and would SWEAR that one of my (5) lines showed an upgrade date of Nov. 14. Later that night I went online again to check about getting an upgraded phone on that line and it said Nov. 16! The online receipts only go back 90 days and I haven't been able to figure out how to verify my contract start date...

Verizon just announced that if you're eligible for update before November 15, you can now update anytime without penalty.

Though carriers do not openly announce this, the big 3 (Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon) will often allow you to upgrade a couple months earlier AS LONG AS you're staying w/ their service. I've personally seen them allow customers to upgrade 3 and 4 months sooner than their actual upgrade date, and often it's done with little to no extra charge (Aside from new device activation).
Sprint finally posted their early termination rates, but last time I checked Verizon and AT&T did not. I mention these rates because you actually are terminating your contract earlier in order to "sign" a new contract.

All that being said, as long as you're within about 3 months of upgrading, just contact your carrier and explain your interest. I worked in a Certified Seller store and literally all the customer would do was call, say they want to upgrade early, the customer service rep makes a few key strokes, and I was able to upgrade their device a tab bit earlier.
Just make sure your account is in good standings before doing so obviously.

That's very strange that you say that about your date changing. I only pursued an upgrade once I saw the opportunity of Nov 15th and I swore my contract was up on the 14th of November. I was at the checkout stand when they showed me on there stupid handhelds, sorry not so fast your contract expires on the 19th. I even have it on my calendar as to the exact day my deal comes up for upgrade and it was November 14th. What the heck is going on!!! I've gone to three Verizon oulets since and they don't even know about the new Nov 15th deal. I would switch carriers in a second if it wasn't for the fact where I live, Verizon has the best signal!!

My story has a happy ending. I decided to wait out customer service and give them a call. The lady said they have this request often and can do it if the plan is near to in end. In my case 8 weeks. She said they can't do it at the stores due to commission sales. Net net- My Galaxy will be here Tuesday. She was shocked I wasn't calling to upgrade to an iPhone. Thanks for everyone's help!!

That is a matter of personal opinion.

for me, that is anything but an upgrade.

unable to modify the OS,
unable to change the launcher,
unable to do ............... you name it...

downgrade, yup...
