Convert Chromebook to Linux

How can I convert an old Chromebook to Linux? I have a 2014 Acer Chromebook 15 that I want to wipe out and run Ubuntu. I've tried the "enable Linux on Chromebook" and it doesn't meet my needs. I keep running into brick walls when I try to rid the laptop of Chrome OS. I want to create a machine that just runs Ubuntu 20.04. Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Tried this, didn't work because Google locks down all user accounts to noexec. This is a 6 year old Chromebook. I want to wipe it entirely, then install Ubuntu to run machine exclusively in Linux.
