Converting to ART after flashing custom recovery and rooting M8

I have a question about converting to ART after flashing a custom recovery and rooting my M8. I am currently running the stock GPe ROM and wanted to try it on ART, I'm just not sure if the stock recovery is required to perform the action. Does anyone know what would be likely to happen? Would it work?

It will work just fine, stock/custom recovery is not related to dalvik or art runtime

So it doesn't boot into recovery when performing the process? Is that what you mean? I just wanna know for sure before I do it.

The phone reboots and reloads all your apps, but recovery is not involved.

I have done this a number of times on a number of devices

Be aware not every app or mod is ART compatible.

Yeah I understand that. I have used art before I rooted, I just wasn't sure if the process involved recovery, since I now have a custom recovery.
