My phone keeps popping up the "Cooling down" notification, which is the battery with the triangle and exclamation mark in the notification bar. This is the message that I am getting. I am browsing while downloading music from Spotify now. I never saw this before the kk OTA update today

I saw that third screen, or very similar wording, once on my S2 about a month ago. I don't know if It was before I installed GSam.

I checked the battery temperature and it was around 110F.

Yes it was hot to touch. I put it down to a little used spare battery.

I haven't seen the message myself and am not on Verizon but if you just updated to Kit Kat it may be doing a lot of stuff in the background and combined with your streaming music may just be overloaded at the moment. I wouldn't worry about it unless it kept happening after a couple days.

Hmm... I never saw that one. Lots of processes running? I assume you have done a restart...

I could be mistaken and saw that on my Note 3 instead. So it would be after the KK update.
I let my S2 get warm and only the GSam warning appeared.

I've got the same Issue, the message appeared as soon as I updated and won't go away.

Saw it again, though I am downloading music, running hotspot, and running Helium backup, and charging the phone

Hummm, I keep asking myself do the pro's out weigh the con's on this ....KITKAT update???

This happened to my wife recently. It was because she was using a third party battery. I got her to use her Samsung battery and the problem did not occur anymore. The battery was from Hyperion.

Happened again just now. Stock battery, no root.

I have been having the same thing for about 2 weeks. It is on all the time, but it will let me charge the phone. Sometime my phone is warm and the message makes sense, but most of the time the phone is not even hot and it has the message for hours!!! It seems like the upper left corner of my Note 3 is hot more than the battery. My battery life is also half what it was before.

I've been running KitKat (I545VRUFNC2) for about 48 hours and just got this message. I've got the phone on while charging, which some say should be avoided, but I've never had a problem pre-KitKat. Does anyone know of a way to disable/freeze/uninstall this feature?

Check your battery stats and see if index service is running. It killed my battery and phone ran hot until sd card was indexed. Also, if you haven't already, factory reset. I have both Verizon and Att N3 and both did some weird stuff after KK update until I factory reset.

Thanks for the quick reply, Conan.

Mine was installed directly from Recovery after a full wipe, so (hopefully) I'm not running into the same issue.

Index Service isn't in my top battery drainers under Battery settings. It lists the usual suspects: Android System, Screen, Android OS, Google Services, etc. And honestly, my phone doesn't feel that hot; it's been way hotter. Right now, I'm hovering at 31.9°C which IMHO ain't bad.

I'm more curious about disabling the warning so I can be as evil to my battery as I wish. I was pretty mean to my phone running JB (I545VRUEME7) so nothing on the user end has changed.

I keep getting it too. However I set my phone on the charger when I go to bed and sometimes wake up to the notice. What gives? Unless, I am sleeptexting, nothing should be running.

Mine started showing this a couple of weeks ago. Woke up this morning with it there. Still showing 3 hours later and the phone is completely cold.
