copying and pasting photos to sd card

Hello, i just put a 16 gb micro sd card in my phone. I copied the photos from my phone and pasted them to a folder i created in the sd card. I was wondering if the pictures are still saved in the interal storage? Thank you

There should still be a copy on the internal, yes.
Edit: a different way to do it is to use a PC, pull the files to your desktop, and move the files again to the card. Sounds like a lot of steps, but with the move from the phone to the PC makes a copy. This way, if anything happens during the moving, you have potentially one, if not 2 backups.

The easiest way to move data from internal storage to the SD card, is through the "My Files" app in the app drawer.
Utilizing this app allows you to delete data from internal storage and keep it on the SD card.
If you wish to do so, select the "move" option rather than "copy".
