Easy fix, just switch your phone from Media device to Camera after you plug it in, it will search and install new drivers and work just fine
Had same problem. Did the same thing the poster a few up did (went to Samsung's site, downloaded USB drivers for GN, restarted computer... everything worked fine. I do know that I couldnt copy over any images unless the phone was unlocked.
OK I ***THINK*** I have the issue figured out! For me at least I hope this helps. I feel dumb!!!
I was trying to copy pictures to the DCIM/Camera folder which results in the transfer hanging every time!
I was able to just drag and drop with NO problems to subfolders I created in the PICTURES folder off the root dir. Try this it should take care of any issues. Also when I try to sync HD .3gp files from my Tbolt through Media Player it says it cant do it because the phone can't play the format. In this case just drag and drop those files in the "Movies" dir off the root dir and they play like a champ!!! Also this is done with MTP so it is perfectly fast!
Simply put you can copy out of the DCIM folder but NOT into it. Not sure if that was posted before but now I finally know and hate my phone less!
Now if I would only get voicemail notifications!!!
Having trouble also. I plugged in the GN to Wwindows 7 and windows said "Samsung GN - downloading drivers". I selected 7 pictures to copy...only copied 6 before it died. Next I tried the PTP transfer...again computer downloaded drivers. I selected 1 pic and copied to the picture folder and this worked BUT when I go to the camera gallery App to view the picture you cannot re size it or do anything else like you can do when the pics are in the camera folder.
Can anyone explain the process of downloading the drivers from the Samsung site. Once I get there and click to download what is going to happen next and what should I do to install these drivers on the computer.....Thanks in advance.
Go download the Galaxy Nexus drivers ... you can find the link in one of these threads. I'll look later if you can't find it. It's just an .exe you run. After you run it plug in the phone to the computer and just leave it as MTP. Now open your device manager and find where the phone has popped up. When I was unlocking my boot loader it showed up under Other Devices as Android 1.0 or something close to that. It may be in your Portable Devices section already. Right click it and choose Update Driver Software. Now click on the bottom where it says Browse my computer for driver software. Next again click at the bottom where it says Let me pick from a list of devices drivers on my computer. Now you should be able to click the top selection in the box to Show all Devices. It will sit for a min and say retrieving a list. When it is done on the left your looking for Samsung. One will likley have a few of them and as you click each one on the left it will give you a list of devices on the right. Go through them until on the right you get Samsung Android ADB Interface and chose that. From here it should install and you should now be good with the Samsung drivers (reboot for good measure.. This is what finally worked for me and allowed me to unlock my boot loader and is still working fine now that I know the ins and outs of copying files over.
