Copying images *to* the Galaxy Nexus

You can get around the hang-up by
selecting all the files you want to move and dragging them ONTO the
icon of the destination folder on your Gnex (i.e. don't open the
window for the destination folder and drag to that, just drag them
onto the folder icon itself).

Yes! Perfect fix. Don't install drivers, don't root phone, don't enable USB debugging, just drag to folder icon (tested pn Win 7)

From a Mac, using Android Transfer, it works no problem. I don't even have to drag to DCIM. I dragged a bunch of icons to an icons folder I created under the /data directory and Gallery found them immediately using the Gnex media scan.

I'm aware that you are using a PC and not Mac, so I just want to add that I did a copy/paste and not a drag.

I was having the same issues trying to copy roughly 30 pics. I was able to copy 3 + one video before the transfer completely stalled. Here's what I did that worked:

- Went to Samsung's website and downloaded the drivers for the Nexus from here
- Installed the drivers in my PC. I did get an error on BT device not recognized but I ignored it.
- Connected the Nexus, USB mode in MTP.
- The Nexus got detected and the drivers loaded.
- Copied one image to test and it worked (before it would simply stall). Transferred all remaining images in an instant.

I am now copying 4GB worth of MP3s and things seem pretty stable.

BTW, kudos to folks at droidforums.net where I got the links and pointers to fix this issue.

this worked for me for a while, then it stopped working. i don't know why. i checked the settings and they are still the same.

FYI Guys, here's a really good, 100% working temporary fix from Google's forums:

"Glad to see it is a known issue to Samsung. In the meantime, on both
of the systems I have tried it with, you can get around the hang-up by
selecting all the files you want to move and dragging them ONTO the
icon of the destination folder on your Gnex (i.e. don't open the
window for the destination folder and drag to that, just drag them
onto the folder icon itself). Hope this gets fixed in the next
update."

Worked like a charm for me, wanted to share!

nope, that's what i've been doing and it will just stall at calculating time of transfer and never actually does anything. it used to work, but for some reason it's not anymore.

I discovered today that I too have this issue. I cannot copy and paste pictures from my PC to my phone. It hangs every time. I sure hope this issue is fixed in the next update. None of t he solutions in this thread worked for me.

I had this problem too until I downloaded the latest Samsung drivers which solved the problem, but then I found the Wifi file explorer app in the market. With this you don't need to connect any cables at all and you see all the folders and files on your phone right in a web browser window.. There for you to manipulate.

So if you have a Wifi network you get the app in the market, enter your IP address in the browser and you get instant access to your phone. Haven't used a cable since.
